  1. Well... Long ago and far away... OK...1977 East Texas. I was a senior in High School. Not quite desolate, but Picture The Dukes of Hazard meets Deliverance. Disco was king...even in East Texas. My best friend was a kick ass musician who was a brilliant drummer and could play guitar much better than I could. I was mildly musical with a Gibson Les Paul (I had some money cause I did some oil field work and DJ'd for my dad). My friend (who I will call "Mickey") and I had played some high school baseball and were on the baseball team at the local JC. On Friday nights in the summer of 1
  2. First Concert: May 6, 1976 Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport, La Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. There were only about 300-400 people there. Bruce played like it was his last night on earth. Transcendent. First Wilco Show: September 14, 2007 The Palladium, Dallas, Tx I wrote in length about My and D-man's first Wilco Show. Saw a lot of bands in the late 70's as they hit the mid-sized market stop of Shreveport ELO Bob Seger Boston Foreigner Cheap Trick (loudest show I have EVER been to) Hall and Oates (when the were touring behind Beauty of a Backstreet. They were really, REAL

  4. Wow...VERY nice.Sounds like something straight out of 1969.You actually accomplished something noteworthy...you impressed me. By the way...second the motion that your band is good also! And PopTodd...da$m, you're good too! Now I'll get back to my mundane existance.

  6. These are what I refer to as the Tuesday artists (i.e. have to purchase the cd on the Tuesday it is released); however I Don't think I have 20 artists that are still active that interest me that much anymore. Wilco Bruce Springsteen Neil Young Bob Dylan U2 Alejandro Escovedo Drive By Truckers Bobby Bare Jr. (in his various incarnations...a recent addition) Ryan Adams Queens of the Stone Age (although they might be falling off the list) There are only two artists I will spend my hearing on these days (i.e. attend concerts): Wilco Springsteen I will eventually buy a new Pearl Jam relea
  7. Looks like I don't partake of much New Music anymore. Badfinger --- No Dice, Straight Up, Wish You Were here...A cautionary tale of the way a band can be sodomized by the music industry. Wonderfully tuneful, tightly crafted power pop of the first order. Warren Zevon --- Stand in the Fire...The guys was on fire that night. One of the best live recordings EVER. Bruce Springsteen --- Magic...this one is powerful in its examination of the alientation and loss of innocence of America. Gypsy Biker is sublime. NEU! --- NEU!2 ... as important a band as has ever recorded. Kraut rock at its fine
  8. Heh...I am a Rangers fan. You guys have no fucking idea what futility is.
  9. The Byrds --- Feel a Whole Lot Better The Searchers --- Needles and Pins
  10. My father owned a radio station when I was growing up. Music has always been an integral part of my life. Some of these I played on the radio myself...some led me to other artists...some changed the way i listened to music George Harrison --- All Things Must Pass The Beatles --- Abbey Road, The White Album Bruce Springsteen --- Born to Run, The Wild, The Innocent, the E Street Shuffle, Darkness on the Edge of Town The Clash --- London Calling Bob Dylan --- Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks REM --- Murmur U2 --- War, The Joshua Tree Wilco --- AM, Summerteeth Uncle Tu

  14. Not well. Hell..I'm a former Student of Texas A&M. I live and breathe disappointment.
  15. And just how many Bands have ever written a catchy pop song about a transvestite? (Lou Reed's songs not withstanding)? I met her in a club down in old soho Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like coca-cola C-o-l-a cola She walked up to me and she asked me to dance I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said "lola L-o-l-a lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola" Well I'm not the worlds most physical guy But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine Oh my lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola Well Im not dumb but I can't understand Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man Oh my l
