  1. now playing as I read this thread:
  2. I'm not going to get this story entirely right but what the hell. People who auditioned for Ronnie Hawkin's band (The Hawks, some of who became The Band) were told that they couldn't play for Ronnie if they squeaked. Somebody was reported to have said "Segovia squeaks". Ronnie's reply was "That's why he's not in my band". That probably doesn't help.
  3. Some of this sounds a lot like John Hiatt (in a good way if I have to make that qualification)
  4. 9/10 Who knew how he described Living with War? Oh yeah, I guess Analogman knew.
  5. It's about time they came up with a tote bag.
  6. I've got nothing to suggest in terms of downloading. If you want to use some old technology, I could mail you copies. PM me if interested.
  7. In the spirit of full disclosure:
  8. Mine was at Seneca Field House in Toronto but the year sounds about right I think this is mostly a case of "mistaken identity". Normally when a first post is not about Wilco, it sets off alarms. I'll be looking for a copy of this for sure so thanks for the heads up.
  9. I saw a Graham Parker/Thin Lizzy double bill once. They don't have concerts like that any more.
  10. I know the air guitar parts to every song on Kiss Alive
  11. found this on Stereogum; http://www.stereogum.com/archives/004864.html
  12. Ohhh!?! How big IS the Vic? I really should go to this. $100 for the ticket is doable.... I've got points for a plane ticket. Not sure if I can afford a divorce right now.
  13. Despite my jealousy, I really like this thread.
  14. If you lived in Canada, you couldn't help but hear them They pick up where Stompin' Tom leaves off. Their latest record is very good (as are many of their records), and they are quite good live. On a good night, they can be very very good live. I'd go.
  15. Thanks to Owl, Analogman and anybody else who played a role in putting this stuff up! Cheers
  16. Either Way really didn't have that great an impact on me yesterday as I listened to this record 3 or 4 times. This morning when I woke up, it was on a loop in my brain. That's all I've got - can't explain it but I though you might want to I thought I should tell you anyway
  17. *edited The alternate ending.
  18. I even learned how to use the washing machine Keep them things clean Doesn't change anything This is as sad and bittersweet as Hummingbird
