  1. A recording of this is up on dime and trader's den.
  2. Like most Ween records, this one didn't do much for me on the first listen. I'll give it another couple spins but it'll probably sound much better after I see them Nov. 8th. That reminds me, I MUST take off work the next day.
  3. I have a couple weeks to rest but here's mine: 10/30 Broken Social Scene (LA) 11/03 Fun Fun 11/04 Fun Fest (Austin) 11/07 The Hold Steady (LA) 11/08 Ween (LA) 11/10 Jens Lekman (LA) 11/16 Neko Case (LA)
  4. Viatroy, I wish I would've known you were there or going to be there. I would have loved to meet you. I did meet some wonderful people that night, all attending the show solo. We had that in common as well as a love for both Gillian and David. The three of us became instant friends. It's amazing how intimate engagements like this will do that. Here are some pictures taken by the girl stading next to me. There is also a recording out there of this night. It was done from a recorder in the jacket pocket of a fella standing behind me. I'll let you know when I get my hands on it.
  5. The Smiths - Louder than Bombs This records and all the other Smiths records helped me to realized that not all british new wave was lame. Grateful Dead - American Beauty This record made me a Deadhead. John Hartford - Steam Powered Aereoplane Wow. This record is my favorite bluegrass record of all time. Makes me want to smoke a joint and play music with my friends. Radiohead - OK Computer Helped me get through my divorce way back when. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot I already listened to Wilco but this record was different for me. It came out about the time my son was born and it helpe
  6. Wasn't there already a movie about Joy Division/Ian Curtis/New Order?
  7. Good vibes from the left coast. What part of California?
  8. I voted Master of Puppets but it's probably tied with Ride the Lightning.
  9. I wouldn't mind seeing more pitures of Neko from this festival. Damn, she looks hot!
  10. I saw these guys a few weeks ago at Henry Fonda in L.A. and really enjoyed it. I'm not really into seeing knob twisters too much but these guys have something good going. Their lights went really well with their music and the guys were really entertaining. I was expecting a little more raw percussion and noise making devices but really wasn't let down too much. Their live sound is pretty intense without going overboard and lives up to the hype. I paid 30 bucks and feel good about it.
  11. I actually asked Dave about playing with Jon Brion in Los Angeles. Actually, I couldn't remember the name 'Largo" for some reason so I just said "the place where Jon Brion plays" and he quickly said "Oh, Largo." He said they love going down there and sitting in with Jon and folks whenever they're around LA. I look forward to future nightcaps at Largo after Gillian and David shows. This show with about 120 people was truly special for the quality of the music, intimacy of the room, and all the wonderful people in attendance. I think the majority of us realized what we were witnessing was specia
  12. What a special night. I found out about this show after it was announced 3 days prior to happening and I knew I had to be there. Here's a setlist (or an attempt at one at least). I'll post a review later. 10/04/2007 Tangier Restaurant Los Angeles, Ca I'll Be Your Baby Tonight Diamond Joe I Hear Them All> This Land is Your Land> I Hear Them All Elvis Presley Blues The Way it Will Be Stagger Lee China Doll Knuckleball Catcher Pocohontus Jack-a Roe To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, Is To Be High) The Happy Sunny Side of Life Luminous Rose Racing in the Streets(?) 13. One of my favorite albums that I just recently got on vinyl. This record never gets old.
  14. Me too. We should have a big VC party at the next Banyan show in Springdale. When Nels is playing, of course. I will for sure be at the DiPiazza's Banyan gig and the Singers show in Hollywood. This is exciting news as always.
  15. I was at that show and thought is was good but not great. I felt like the crowd, like at so many LA shows, seemed somewhat disinterested in the show. Or maybe the majority didn't really know Spoon. I don't know. I had a really good time but I expected more band/crowd interaction both during and between songs. I think Britt even mentioned something about the crowd being really quiet at one point. I also felt the show was about 5 songs too short.
  16. Nice win, Ben. Also, thanks for the pm the other day. It made for a good weekend of listening.
  17. How to Fight Loneliness Bob Dylan's 49th Beard
  18. I hate the Red Sox but I'm stoked for Clay B. Go Angels!
