That's exactly what I used to want. Somewhere along the way I changed my mind in favor of a more standard Tele, though. Still, the thinlines have a ton of charm, and I agree they sound great.

So, which song did Nels play Duane Allman's Les Paul gold top on last night? I just saw a photo. I've never seen Nels play a Les Paul, or even heard of him playing one. What a way to start!

I agree with this. If they had played single nights at the Fox again, or maybe the Civic Center (bigger venues than Cobb), they probably would have sold it out, or at least come close. I think they could have sold out two nights at the Tabernacle (comparable size venue as Cobb). One hinderance to ticket sales is that Cobb has no transit access, so you have to drive, and for some people it's a long drive compared to "intown" venues. And it's also an area many ITP folks never go to, but it has a reputation for extreme traffic congestion. Not particularly inviting.

If I'm not mistaken, in one of the interveiws posted here last week, it said they recorded EVERYTHING, forcing them to record digitally. The "finished" tracks were later transferred to tape for mixing. But as soon as we started, we realized we would have gone through probably $50,000 worth of tape at the rate we were going [Laughs]. I thought so. Both songs started, went nowhere, and ended a few minutes later exactly as they started. How long have they had the look-alike drummers?

I would consider Atlanta a major market, and I don't think we've ever gotten more than one show per year. This year, we have two nights back to back, but that's because they're playing a smaller than normal venue, and not because their tour is hitting Atlanta twice. What are the major markets that get 2-3 dates per year?

I'm sure if we wanted them more, our computers and the ticket seller would have been more cooperative.

Sorry, but you're wrong. My wife and I both did exactly what your describing for Ryman tickets, and we got nothing. And we REALLY WANTED THEM. What part of that is a cop out?

The Band is a kind of weird case. When Big Pink came out, a lot of musicians reacted by getting away from the never ending guitar solos/jams of the late '60s (at least temporarily) and getting back to more traditional song forms (Clapton and the Dead, to name two). But now, a lot of the jam bands sound sort of like The Band, but with never ending guitar solos. So, the Band were sort of the anti-jam band, but now they're heroes to a lot of jam band acts. It doesn't really make any sense.

I used to go see "jam bands" in the early '90s (Phish, Widespread Panic, Col. Hampton, etc.), and I'd agree with the bold portion. I remember when Phish put out Hoist, and it was just a bunch of normal length songs with normal length guitar solos. A lot of their fans started getting nervous.

Oh cool. That title seems to be a bit misleading, but I'm sure I'll watch it at some point. I love seeing videos of them from the early days when Peart had a comparatively tiny drumset. I'd be thrilled if more of that stuff were to come out, but by now I doubt there's anyhing left to release.

1. Probably Mary Timony, with bands and/or solo. I can't answer 2 or 3. I've tried doing lists like that before, and I've concluded that my mind just isn't willing to settle on a solid answer.

I was thinking about this yesterday. I have an aquaintance who is going to accuse me of this if St. Vincent ever comes up in conversation. But I call bullshit. It's wrong on at least two levels. Frst, I can think of very few female musicians I like who aren't what most people would consider at least significantly more attractive than average. So, that accusation would call my entire taste in music into question. All because beautiful people exist. Second, her looks, and the way they were presented on her first two albums, actually prevented me from giving her a chance when I first h

Can't say I blame them. They probably all have more interesting projects to work on, musical or otherwise. It's gotta be pretty boring to be a band that's been around that long.

That's what I mean. The audience doesn't get to pick the guests, so you might get tickets for a taping in which every guest is someone you have no interest in. So, if there are 400 people in the audience, and Wilco plays a long set after the broadcast show is done being taped, I would think a lot of people who aren't interested in Wilco would get up and leave.

Interesting. I didn't know they did this. I would think a bunch of people there just for the taping would tend to get up and leave after the show taping ends.
