bigideas
Of Montreal have made a lot of great albums and had a lot of releases. I'm sure I probably own more CD's of them than anyone, and I like just about every single track. Decemberists can make it with cheating: Castaways and CutoutsHer Majesty (Tain EP)PicaresqueThe Crane Wife Starflyer 59 seem to have released an album and/or EP every year for probably 10 years or longer. my other already mentioned:Beatles, Beach Boys, Talking Heads, Dylan oh, another:Simon & Garfunkel

I wasn't even thinking about the Tain. I was just hoping their next LP was as amazing as the first 4... Starflyer is good, but I wouldn't call any run 'great.' On many of the more upbeat numbers, he seems to recycle some of his prior chord progressions and it's kind of annoying. I noticed this on the newest one moreso than anywhere else. Still, "New Wife, New Life" is one of my favorite tunes. Too bad it's quite sterile in a live setting.

Portuguese isn't horrible (neither is My Island) to me, but not as strong as the others. p.s. i'm very anxious to get the first shipment of their 7" club they're doing this year. Orkie
Care to be a little more specific? In order to have the five greatest consecutive albums, you need at least a few "10's" an album. I'm not saying those are bad albums. But I am saying there's not nearly enough classic songs on the masterpiece level to justify the nomination. I don't see a Black Dog, Dear Prudence, Shine On, When the Levee Breaks, Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, etc. But hey, if think they are, more power to you.

The Clash and John Cale definately stand up next to anyone you'd care to mention, and both artists have "10/10" albums in those runs, so I think you're being a little too harsh there. Littlebear
it seems like in this kind of thread, you can pretty well mention anything you want, as long as you're positive, you're cool and don't need to explain as early as someone says a negative point, he just spoils the party but there have been simply too much lists here that can be contested - what sort of fun it is? MrRain422
I was going to mention Sonic Youth, but I think EVOL and Dirty are a little uneven. Dirty isn't perfect, but solid. I looooooooove EVOL though (right up there with Sister, IMO), but I've had that debate with a lot of people so I know I'm in a minority on that one. I almost did Daydream Nation thru Washing Machine, but Experimental Jet Set is just a little too crappy for that.
