Chendizzle
> Why did the other thread have to be locked? I didn't read most of it you can still read it... just not reply You misread that, I was just saying that I didn't read most of it because I didn't care (trying to indicate I have no actual stake in the thread), not because I thought I couldn't due to it being locked. So what if it was 41 pages of crap? No one's forcing you to read every last bit. Many threads here degenerate into nonsense, so I don't know how that is a defense (see: this thread itself). I swear I'm not trying to stir stuff up here, I just thought it strange since it didn't seem to warrant locking to me, nothing particulary nasty was going on. Oh well, carry on good VCers. Sir Stewart
The amount of space a 40 page thread takes up had something to do with it. No thread is over 50 pages (or so) by design around here. And, like someone said earlier, the thread went off its rails pages before the end.
Dude
So is this the new 41 Pages o' Crap Thread?
Atticus
Me referencing the unanswered question is just a bit at this point...there's nothing more to it. I thought magicians weren't supposed to reveal their tricks. What's being left out of this discussion is the issue of Jeff abandoning the strat that we saw on Conan in favor of a nice big hollow body for the studio version of "the thanks I get" or did he? mcs
On the topic of "selling out"...Did anyone else read that Jeff started a clothing line to be sold at Wal-Mart? I did read it a while ago. Please someone tell me it isn't true!

bobbob1313
Threads that speak badly of the band are not going to last long - I can understand that in some ways. Plus - jokers like me make jokes and that gets things off track. If this was an official board - it would have been removed on the first day most likely. At least that is the sort of thing I have seen from time to time on official boards. The page went on for like 47 pages. How did that not last long? I can remember maybe 5 threads in JAF being locked ever.

The admin who locks thread is not around every day, 24 hours a day. Plus - I am speaking of what I have seen in the past.

I really don't remember too many JAF threads being locked quickly. Ones dealing with the band's personal life and ones that go on for too long and don't have anything to do with the topic will get locked, obviously. But other than that they pretty much let anything fly.
gogo
The admin who locks thread is not around every day, 24 hours a day.Any of the admins or mods can lock threads. It just happens that we tend to leave the dirty work for Donna more often than not.

gogo
I locked a thread once and got my ass handed to me. And most of the moderators agreed that it didn't warant locking, so I unlocked it. I can't speak for the rest of the moderators, but I'm still figuring out what's appropriate and what's not.

EL the Famous
i remember i was pretty upset when styx sold out and let VW use Mr. Roboto in a commerical, but i've come to terms. also, the mcdonald's commercial w/ larry bird and michael jordan was pretty awesome...a commercial w/ andrew bird and mikael jorgensen where they have a duel w/ weird looking sweaters or trade licks on an oboe for a big mac would be interesting or, most likely, something i wouldn't care to see. vee-dub represent! Good, Congrats, long time coming, could not have happened to a better bunch of dudes. All the shit they sign and talk to literally EVERBODY who wants to say hi after the show/ free downloads, web cast, road case, streaming the new album for months before it comes out. Christ almighty relax it is a good time to be a wilco fan. Now, I'm going to go buy me some Volkswagens
bwhite0421
as long as the music remains good and the live shows and webcasts and other 'goodies' are still there, i don't mind hearing wilco music in a commercial (i still haven't heard/seen the one in question) maybe now when i tell someone i'm going to see wilco they won't give me that blank look they'll say "oh yeah, the band that did that VW commercial" cheers, b
HighFives
no, it's not true. Another man named Jeff Tweedy is (or was) executive vice president of Sean John, the New York-based apparel company run by P. Bhickman
there's a Jeff Tweedy credited with photos for the new album by the singer Sia...Wilco Jeff or Diddy Jeff or wholly unrelated Jeff?

JRiordan
Hearing even that tiny clip of the song yesterday made my night, since I hadn't heard the studio version yet! My mom even liked it and asked who it was!!! I just wish it were included on the album! (I will download the track ASAP)
Atticus
Jay Farrar also had songs in some TV shows off the last Son Volt. has this been mentioned?
