I don't quite know why there's so much griping about Valentine's Day here. Lighten up people! Think about all the holidays:

Christmas = Baby Jesus, Santa, presents

Thanksgiving = Turkey, football, pilgrims & indians

4th of July = fireworks

Halloween = candy & costumes

Easter = Jesus rising from the dead & bizarre bunnies that hide eggs and candy

St. Patrick's Day = green beer &... more green beer!

 

These are all fine and dandy until you think about Valentine's Day

V-Day = getting laid!

My boyfriend and I are staying at this resort for a night [or two? Not sure...]. It was originally a birthday present of his from last year, but it ended up that this was the first good weekend we would have for that.

It's a lot more than I would normally consider doing for Valentine's day, but it's a nice chance to have a day off and get out of town for a bit.

 

I would have to say that most Vdays are a supreme letdown, as I really didn't have someone to celebrate with [outside of my fambly...but you know]. Last year was the first I actually celebrated, and I wish I hadn't been so dumb as to expect that Valentine's day is anything like what Hallmark or the movies or your friends [or anybody else] say it is. To me, it's a day to make what you want of it. Just like any other.

I have always enjoyed valentines day, single or with someone. When i had to the space to do so i would make homemade valentines and send them to my friends and family, and make sugar cookie hearts decorated very elaborately to bring to my local friends. in fact i think i prefer Valentines Day single to Valentines Day Married, because now there's this expectation to DO SOMETHING IMPORTANT!!!!
