myboyblue
When people mention Bruce Springsteen, the mental image that comes to mind is Kirk Cameron and Alan Thicke going to a Springsteen concert in an episode of Growing Pains. I don't know how that bit of TV trivia got lodged in my head as a child, but I think it explains why I have always struggled to take his music seriously. It took me about 15 years to get past Bruce dancing with Courtney Cox in the "Dancing in the Dark" video. Extremely difficult to take an artist seriously with that sort of horseshit going on inside the TV box. I now consider Nebraska and Born to Run in my top 50 albums list. hardwood floor
"Photograph" is the best song by a former Beatle. "What is Life" is the best song by a former Beatle. not sure how blasphemous these two statements are ... photograph & what is life would be my 1-2, not sure in which order. both harrison compositions? i believe photograph cowrite with ringo? favorite beatles solo track would be a good thread ... i can listen to their solo stuff more these days than the band stuff, which i love but have burned out on or ... to stay on topic ... the beatles are unlistenable

Analogman
I was thinking of this specifically: A joke on the word Survivor. I think there are some good songs on BITUSA - but the sound is too polished. I have read that Jon Landau was pushing Bruce to come up with hit songs - thus Dancing In The Dark was born.
