Twisted Acres
The Beach Boys - Let's Go Away for AwhileThe Beach Boys - Pet Sounds ...and there's an instrumental version of "What's Going On" that was included in the deluxe anniversary edition of the Album by Marvin Gaye, which gradually builds up just the instrumental portions of the recording, first just Mr. Jamerson's bass and the legendary sax "warm-up" by Eli Fontaine, then pieces are gradually added (snaps, bongos, strings, vibes). It is magnificent.

bigideas
wow, how could no one mention this one: "Green Onions" - Booker T and the MG's and "Treefingers" - Radiohead Beach Boys Smile era instrumentals are great and i believe there's a good one on Friends as well. No Knife had some great instrumentals - I don't have the CD with me right now. and..........hahahaahah.....Wipe Out! Tarantino uses some great instrumentals in his films. mountain bed
Eric Johnson's "Cliff's of Dover"Hell yeah. I've always loved his guitar playing - what a great tone. Stevie Ray is to Hendrix as Johnson is to Jeff Beck (or so it seems to me). That album (Ah Via Musicom) is chock full of great instrumentals - he does a great job of channeling Wes Montgomery on the tune "East Wes".
GtrPlyr
wow, how could no one mention this one: "Green Onions" - Booker T and the MG's Original thread directive: What are some of your favorite instrumental tracks from artists that generally incorporate lyrics? Booker T and the MG's were an instrumental band . Eric Johnson's "Cliff's of Dover"Love that song. I thought of mentioning it earlier but I consider Johnson more of an instrumentalist so I skipped it.
froggie
what about Misirlou from Dick Dale?
bigideas
Original thread directive:Booker T and the MG's were an instrumental band . this is true and i did even read that. it slipped my mind because i love that song. Eels - Blinking Lights and Revelations had quite a few instrumentals...though i wouldn't classify them as 'favorites.'
jff
wow, how could no one mention this one: "Green Onions" - Booker T and the MG's Definitely one of the best instrumentals ever, but it probably wasn't mentioned because of this (from the first post on this thread): "What are some of your favorite instrumental tracks from artists that generally incorporate lyrics?" Booker T & the MGs are amazing, but they are an instrumental band. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see the two previous posts.
