Party @ the Moontower
good lord... i had tears streaming down my face during the segment with Jocelyn... Jocelyn's story is a perfect example of what 8 years under the Bush administration has done to this country. During the bailout McCain urged Bush to once again ignore Congress and do what he wanted. McCain votes with Bush, acts like Bush, and will be another Bush. McCain & Palin will ignore our laws, congress, the American people, and the Constitution of the United States of America OBAMA/BIDEN

Party @ the Moontower
I've got nothin...oh wait... Since the McPalin camp seems to want to make character an issue, I was wondering if we could discuss that a little bit? I won't go with the obvious total change of character McCain has gone through since hiring on Palin or even the change she has gone through if the Alaskan papers are to be believed. But not being a very bright person I am wondering how Ms Palin gets that the Branchflower report vindicates her when it contains the following: II Findings Finding Number One For the reasons explained in section IV of this report I find that Governor Sarah Palin Abused her Power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a)of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statue 39-52.110(a) provides "The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust." Sounds to me like she broke what we here in flyover country call "The Law". If she gets out of this that she did no wrong, shouldn't McCain supporters at the very minimum be worried about her reading comprehension skills? What horrible tragedy is going to befall the country if she similarly mis-interprets some diplomatic message or treaty? Is this a comprehension issue? Or a character issue? Tell you what Wooten comes off better in this report than the Palin's or Heath's do. My overall point is that beyond her being 100% horribly unqualified to hold any public office in the united states, that perhaps if she is going to live in a glass house
Party @ the Moontower
Does anyone have the dish on how Ronald Reagen hated Mccain? He is not a Reagan Conservative and keeps acting like he is. I just saw him on MSNBC doing a press release with Nancy Reagen today...a fall or something? Seems like a cheap trick to me. I thought most true right-wingers could not stand him? Remember when the nutty Ann Coulter said if McCain won the Republican nom she would vote Hillary? Just who is the real John McCain?
MrRain422
In McCain's book, he says that relations between he and the Reagans got icy after McCain's ex-wife went to work for Nancy Reagan, so in their particular case it is personal, not political.
John Smith
I believe the fallout came from the McCain divorce and how it occurred (blindsided Ron and Nancy who were friends of the first Mrs McCain. ) I may be wrong But I thought it had something to do with that. sweetheart-mine
carried over from the other thread: good lord... i had tears streaming down my face during the segment with Jocelyn... me too. thanks for posting this. it's exactly the kind of thing that makes me wonder how on earth anyone can worry about the possibility of high-income folks having their taxes increased a few percentage points. in the face of stories like these, it just seems so blind and backward, on the most basic human level. i don't understand it. sweetheart-mine
When would it ever be enough? does this mean "don't try"? "it's off the table"? don't worry -- the hardworking lower-income people i know are not bottomless pits (unlike some luckier people i know), and i'd bet those in the video aren't either. Party @ the Moontower
When would it ever be enough? Maybe you could explain my question that was ignored on the last thread, and perhaps I may understand the fear from the other side on O's tax plan. Can anyone show me how O's plan will bring the rich down? And when we speak of "rich" I mean the top 5% of the wealthiest people in this nation. Obama wanting to raise taxes on the 5% of the American (very wealthy) people who already hold most of this country
solace
When would it ever be enough? well, considering the McCain's could sell off 12 of their 13 homes and could probably help out well over 100-200 normal Americans stay in their homes as a result, you tell me... Obama wanting to raise taxes on the 5% of the American (very wealthy) people who already hold most of this country's money and can buy whatever they want scares people? Letting the middle class die doesn't? Cutting taxes for 95% who need it is scary socialism? This fear of the very rich 5% being taxed to death is so ridiculous. Obama's plan seems high to them because they had amazing tax cuts under Bush while the rest of didn't. Historic cuts for the rich. Obama wants to bring it back down to a fair and realistic #. exactly... here's a scenario giving a 1% tax cut to someone making $40,000 results in them getting back an extra $400 a yeargiving a 1% tax cut to someone making $4,000,000 results in them getting an extra $40,000 a year (ie: the gross take home of the person in the previous model) how on earth would the persion making $4 million a year truly benefit from that extra $40,000 (a new car? paying off a boat? a year of college for their kid?), vs. what the person who got back $400 could do (barely 2 months of groceries). mfwahl
Sarah Palin drew some boos and shouts of confusion today, when while speaking in New Hampshire she mistakenly claimed that the Granite State was part of the "great Northwest." "I like being here," she told the crowd in Laconia, "because it seems like here and in our last rally too -- other parts around this great Northwest -- here in New Hampshire you just get it." lost highway
It's like watching a comedy film. Only it's not a film. And then it's funny mixed with sad. So, the person making $4 million, who is already paying $1.5 million in federal income tax (not to mention all other forms of taxes), should have to pay an additional $40K, $80K, $120K, etc., just because he or she can? And for what exactly? How many more government programs are they expected to fund?
