I posted something about that a few pages back - and then forgot about it. So - thanks for posting that. I guess they are making him earn his money.

Yeah he is definitely earning his pay, perhaps the Dead can spring for a "body man" to watch his stuff while he is dancing.

Of course, Lemieux is not going to be (at least he hasn't thus far) too critical of the band's performances, but there are plenty of other outlets for that on the web.

I wonder if part of their deal with Rhino had to do with keeping him on as the vault guy. It must have been, otherwise he would not be working on the tapes anymore, I guess.

You can pre-order them too. I guess this is for those who like to take risks.

They don't even offer a discount on the pre-orders, which is fine, but I don't see the point of pre-ordering.

I saw that. I am quite content with AUD sources.

I guess a lot of people still think the only way they are going to get a good show is by buying a soundboard source, or grabbing a webcast rip. I can understand if we are talking about people with Radio Shack tape players recording shows, but that is no longer the case, of course.

But on other side, anything a band and it's fans can do to cut out people selling live shows, I'm all for it. Which is why I don't mind a band selling their live shows, at least it's legit.

I kinda like the Built To Last songs as bookend to the sets. I'm assuming the Dead work up a set list before each show these days(?)

He's still got a little work to do on the economy, but already President Barack Obama has accomplished at least one task that had appeared all but impossible just a year ago: He's put The Dead back on the road.

Ha! Suck on it, Ann Coulter!

my Winterland '73 box shipped early and arrived today! what a nice set! currently listening to the November 9, 1973 China Cat Sunflower which is heaven. the Europe '72 version is the gold standard for me but this Winterland version really blows that one out of the water. never ever thought i'd say that!

I rented a car this week and it had XM radio. I kept it on the Grateful Dead station the whole time.

Don't forget that XM/Sirius is broadcasting tonight's Dead show. Hopefully you still have the car.

Those '73-'74 China-> Riders are phenomenal. I love the "Feelin' Groovy" jams in the transitions.

Yeah. They never got any better than those years - that 6/26/74 version is ridiculous.

4/18/82 Hartford Civic Center, Hartford CT

I: Bertha > Promised, FOTD > CC Rider, Ramble On, Me & My Uncle > Mexicali, Althea > LL Rain, Big RxR, Let It Grow

II: Cold Rain > Samson, Ship of Fools, Playin' > Eyes > Drums > Phil's Earthquake Space > Other One > Black Peter > Sugar Mag > Playin' Reprise > Sunshine Daydream

E: Don't Ease

Of course, y'all NEED to hear the Phil Space thing...I believe the nitrous tanks were in full force for that one. :lol But this is pretty solid throughout - Playin' > Eyes is a rare combo, and to finish up the set with both reprises is fucking COOL as well.

11 song first sets rule! :thumbup

That was right around the time that Phil & Jill hooked up. But I think Phil was still partyin' pretty heavily - he sounds deranged during that Space.
