Yeah, it blew me away. The chatter between Bob and Allen is not of much interest to me, but the acoustic versions of Visions and Desolation sound pretty good for a handheld recorder. Ginsberg paid $500 for it in 1965...wonder what that translates to in 2017 dollars?

Always like the band that he had on the albums and tours during this period.

 

I am rationalizing this purchase, because the I skipped the The Bootleg Series Vol. 12: The Cutting Edge 1965–1966 release.

 

One gets an additional 2 discs (a 1979 show from San Diego) if purchased through the Dylan main site - I went that route.

Seems a bit overpriced - $180. But hard to pass up. I think I'll get it, but seems like I'll be devoting every Christmas for the foreseeable future to getting whatever Dylan puts out at the time.

I read the concert DVD incorporates scenes of a preacher played by Michael Shannon. That sounds like a hoot.

I've been listening to the new Bootleg release "Trouble No More" that covers his much scorned Christian period and am totally blown away with how good it is. Highly recommended for Bobby D fans.

It is a great set - the band sounds great and Dylan never sang better. I haven't gotten through the whole DVD that came with the set yet - Michael Shannon recites the sermons that Dylan gave throughout the tour - found it a bit weird.

I'll never forget how hot it was at RFK '86 w/ Dylan and Petty playing with GD. Dylan was in leather pants/vest and was almost inaudible in his mumbled barking voice, and OH HEY a huge bottle of whiskey on stage with him!

I read this book a while back: A Simple Twist of Fate: Bob Dylan and the Making of Blood on the Tracks. I knew some thing about those sessions - but this book is really good with the details about the making of the album.

I enjoyed that book too.  Blood on the Tracks is probably one of my top ten favorite albums so it was interesting to read about the sessions.

It is a great album. It will be interesting to hear the other versions of those songs. I know they are out there - but I have never really collected Dylan bootlegs.

I went for the 2 disc of the 65-66 Bootleg and I have been kinda kicking myself since. I was hoping my library system have sprung for the 6 cd set, but so far they have not.

 

I did the 79-81 complete set. Skipped the Basement set - but tI am able to get the 6 cd set from my library, when I feel like listening to it.

Me too, even with Blood on the tracks being my 2nd favorite Dylan after Highway 61 I am sure I dont need 10 versions of idiot Wind. Dylan fatigue...

Sounds like something AC DC would have used for a deluxe box set version of If You Want Blood You've Got It.

$160 for a 6 cd set seems excessive when you can get if for free. Basically would be paying that money for the book, box, pictures. Hard to justify.
