Somnambulist
LA band from a while back. They recorded an album's worth of material at AIR studios and the above album is the result. Schmed, the songwriter, was in a band called Arlo for a while and was even brought in by Weezer for a little bit to play keyboards when they were demoing an album a long while back. I could see PopTodd liking this one.

Artifice
Albums: Girls - Album (YAY!), Spoon - Transference (OKAY), Vampire Weekend - Contra (...MEH) Songs: # Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension# Broken Bells - The High Road# Girls - Laura (for my son, who absolutely loves this one)# Little Joy - Next Time Around# Califone - Funeral Singers# Besnard Lakes - Albatross Solace, that Besnard Lakes track is A-mazing. It requires the right mood, but holy crap that's a transcendent, urgent sound. Love it. I also love the lower key stuff on there like Califone & Little Joy.

I'm really liking what little I have been able to hear from the new Besnard lakes. Basically one song on Grooveshark. That Broken Bells record is fantastic. I have been wearing it out. Now about to play:Just got this in the mail, the CD is a remake of "The Madcap Laughs" with Robyn Hitchcock, J. Mascis, REM...

M. (hristine
When did all these guys decide they needed to morph into 70s arena rock bands? I'm sad, blue. Much of this album sounds like Thin Lizzy. If anyone sees Sin Ropas Holy Broken floating around could you please PM?
