bsr8j
ditto. i like it WAY more than Challengers. might actually be my 3rd favorite behind Electric Version and Mass Romantic. Challengers really grew on me since its release and now I really dig it. I took it out of my stereo today to put "Together" in, and I do love the more uptempo feel of the new album. All the New Pornographers' children are above average in my book.

I actually don't recall any of their albums outside of Electric Version growing on me so quickly.
Gobias Industries
Christ, I love this record to death. The tracks I didn't like before have grown on me. And the tracks I liked, I love now. Talk about staying power.
brianjeremy
How is it? Sadly, as you would most likely expect: some winners, some duds, good but not great.

brianjeremy
He thought about reuniting GBV for what became Off to Business. He decided against it though.
solace
Always liked Twin Cinema more than Mass Romantic and Electric Version. I could never get over some of the awful lyrics from Mass Romantic (although some of it is excellent in stark contrast), but the music from that album is great. Twin Cinema > Electric Version > Mass Romantic > Together > Challengers Twin Cinema has 4-5 amazing songs, but a bunch i don't really care for either. Bejar's songs on there aren't my favorite as far as his New Pornos stuff goes either.

I don't think Bejar has come any closer to something as accessible as Dressed In Cobras. And isn't Streets Of Fire a Destroyer song redone for Twin Cinema?
solace
re: Streets of Fire, correct. Jackie is great, but i really like 2 of his 3 songs on Together a LOT

Calexico
LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening - All I Want Anyone else think he has been listening to Bowie's Scary Monsters album? Some of the guitar work is almost Frippesque. Great bloody track though.
Calexico
she's on jools holland (bbc2 - british tv) tomorrow night. Did you see the show? Newsome was the best thing on it as well as Mumford & Sons, awful band name though. Worst show in a while though and that is saying something about that show. Holland's inane interview technique is bloody irritating. As for Hole....Lord why?

Newsom was the best thing on it since the last time she was on it. Unless they get old legends on the show, I think the show is pretty boring most of the time. I don't really think that much of Mumford & Sons - they are ok, but really the type of band I'd expect to see on the show. NP.

I don't think Bejar has come any closer to something as accessible as Dressed In Cobras. And isn't Streets Of Fire a Destroyer song redone for Twin Cinema? I like Twin Cinema best. I am very nervous about being hugely disappointed by this one. Dunno when I'll buy it. First two tracks I've heard have been kinda duds.
solace
it's way better than the S/T for me. the muddied vocals & weird production on that one ruined a lot of it for me.
