Ryan Adams (solo acoustic) at the Capitol Theatre. First time seeing him, pretty excited.

Amanda Shires opens. Jason Isbell played yesterday at Jones Beach and has nothing scheduled until August 5th - I'm sure he'll be in attendance, hopeful for a sit-in of some sort.

That will be a fantastic night at the Cap. Let us know.

I'm at Newport, so all the bands associated with that yesterday, today and tomorrow. I also have 3 nights of Deer Tick after shows.

How was the Ryan Adams set? Set list looked great. I assume not an electric full band set?

How did you like night one? I just watched a video of last night's performance of Let Down and really enjoyed it...that's a favorite of mine. I considered doing the Stub Hub thing again yesterday, but tickets were still $200 and up as late as 4 pm, which is the latest I would have been willing to leave here. Just out of curiosity, I kept looking all the way up to show time and they never went down. So there were a fair amount of people who ate those tickets.

Great show! New stuff sounded great. The sound at MSG has been stellar recently...I believe tickets for tonight are about $150 now..still a lot but maybe they will drop some more. At showtime it appeared not a single seat was open. Take the plunge if you can! If you go maybe we can say hi! I'm in 225 Row 7 tonight :guitar

No, I can't go tonight even if the price drops significantly...I have other plans. But generally speaking, I am on a very tight budget at the moment, which is why I've been only talking about free shows and shows in NJ. ;)

Glad you had a great time! Did they play any other old gems?

Arcs were good last night. I liked the two drummer setup and having a mariachi band help out on a few tunes. I was surprised by how much this was the Dan Auerbach show - thought it would be more band like - but it worked. totally worked.

Also, I walked into the venue right behind one Mr. Glenn Kotche.

^^^ My bother sent me American Man for Christmas.  They are on Bloodshot.  He lives in Colorado (and the band is from there too) and had seen them at various venues.  I like American Man and would imagine that they are excellent in concert.  Have fun.

The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration w/Warren Haynes (and Melvin Seals 3rd set) at Red Rocks.

Melvin, Ray White (Frank Zappa guitarist for a good turn), and some local talent for free in City Park last night.

Definitely would like read your thoughts on the show  --- I think XM is broadcasting it - hopefully I can tune in. Melvin was on the XM Tales (talk) show yesterday and Gans/Lambert talked to him about tonight's show.

The show was solid. I'm not sure how Warren and various city symphonies practice for these shows but the CO symphony and Warren (plus drums, bass, etc.) were tight as could be. Jeff Sipe (Leftover Salmon, ARU, et al.) was on drums at the fromt of the satge and was a HUGE  onus/contributor to the vibe.

Warren on "Tiger' was cool but, and this isn't really a gripe, just a noticing, he didn't have/use much of the "tones" Garcia used to get out of it. It didn't really jump out as "Tiger!!" to me. Different guitarist, different styles/preferences, of course. Some of the tunes seemed a little rushed, t

The Jerrettes (Jackie Labranch being the one original to have sung with Garcia) sang back up on most tunes and were a perfect compliment to the music.

There was a bonus 3rd set in honor of Garcia's birthday and it was a quick set break/stage re-arrangement to get Melvin's B-3 on stage and clear the symphonies seats, etc. The director of the symphony played a nasty sax on a bunch of these tunes and the mellow Monday night crowd began to move a bit.

Overall, solid stuff even though I was bushed from Sunday Melvin in the park.

Setlist from a friend who was their, too:

Thanks - the set-list looks great.  I thought XM was going to air it live - but they must have just taped it and are going to broadcast it a few times this week.

I see that there was a 'drums' section in the 2nd Set -- what was that like? I am assuming the symphony had a percussion section up on stage, in addition to Sipe.
