welch79
ditto... the new one is much more impressive musically. sure it might not be as catchy melodically, or rely as much on the 4 part harmonies as the first, but still some very gorgeous songs & melodies imo. wasn't disappointed in the least by it and I can't wait for their show here in 2 weeksif it's only half the show i saw in nashville a couple months ago, it will be a damn good one. enjoy!! Sweet Papa Crimbo
absolutely. I loved their previous ep. The new one is completely different but I like the track they are on. I really need to see those guys. I really love this band. I hope you seconding the rave will get some more folks here on board.Just as I begin to think they may have made a tactical mistake with the leadoff song on the album, "Strange Love", it tears nto "Jack the Robber"., It sounds like nothing else on the record and creates some false impressions and expectations about what follows. But if one sticks around, the "I'm Going Down" riff homage on the next song "Jack the Robber" blows the freaking doors off and it's off to the races from there. The juxaposition of those two songs creates a real tension that ultimately makes this thing a real gem.

Ghost of Electricity
Finally...somebody has some love for The Deep Vibration!I really like what I've heard of this band, and actually it's thanks to you Crow. Especially the Paste magazine sessions you can find on youtube. That said, the material I've heard from the e.p. seems stronger than the l.p. stuff i've heard. I own neither, but probably will when i get off my lazy butt.

I have no connection to this band other than getting fully on board after hearing Oklahoma City Woman Blues on KXT. I feel a real connection to this band and am really glad that people on this board whose opinion I really respect are on board.Good Times http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_JWSPPmlGo

welch79
i cold bought (actually my wife did) the civil wars lp, and it's pretty damn good. a little chill, but good. based on your recs (can't go wrong), i bought the deep vibration's strange love. after just a single spin while i was preparing dinner, it is reminiscent of ryan adams. anyone agree? i like it (i am not a ryan hater as some here are). HappyHourHero
Nice to see all the Dan Romano love in here. He's got a great live band together too, that sometimes channels the Jacksonville City Nights era RA & the Cardinals, Grateful Dead doing country kinda vibe. That Colin Stetson album really is something.
