JAK2112
Awesome set list, good to see its a bit longer than the first few, and features some different Whole Love material for once. Also great to see Ashes back in the setlist.

radiowilco
Just waking up -- terrific show last night Montreal!!! Great energy and excellent playing all around. Yes, it was new a new song party at the Metropolis last night. All of them -- at least for me -- were soooo good! It was great to hear a completely new set list which gave their show a very different groove. Absent, Impossible Germany and Jesus Etc. -- it felt like a "whole" new Wilco to me. I really dug Art of Almost (sinister), One Sunday Morning (gorgeous), and Born Alone (a new rocker is born). Throw in Shouldn't Be Ashamed, How to Fight Loneliness, and ALTWYS -- and well... a really great night. The Metropolis is killer club with great sound. They all always seem to play excellent show here. Nick Lowe was terrific -- as others have said, don't miss his set. Boston on Tuesday and Merriweather on Sunday is next for me... Have fun kids!!! bböp
Were they selling the album? Define "breakout" party? I think the "breakout party" comment probably just referred to the fact that they played eight songs off The Whole Love, the most they've done in a single show yet. As far as selling the new record, I'm reasonably certain they're not going to break street date (or at least not by more than a day ), so I wouldn't expect to see it at the merch table for a few more days yet. ditty
Glad to see the Whole Love played again also Shouldn't Be Ashamed - AWESOME! I love this song and hope it stays in regular rotation!
D. Boon
The first several songs were really sort of haunting - I Might even seemed to have dark undertones to it. Really a fantastic way to start the set. It lightened up dramatically about the time of OSM, which was just stunning live. Relative to shows over the past couple years the set list was really varied. Lots of Summerteeth stuff, a fantastic Impossible Germany that seemed to have an extended rant from the Nels and really great renditions of the new songs. I was also amazed at how well the new songs integrate into the catalog. Just a great night all around - I've seen about 20 or so Wilco shows and this was right up there with the best. ...and Nick Lowe was great!
howardox
Wilco came on with a killer Art of Almost at 9.15 last nite followed by I Might. And the crowd was roaring 2 songs in. I don’t recall the Metropolis ever this loud. And from there the band was all business and on the attack. The sound was thicker than I’d heard before. Yet thru the musical onslaught, there were glimmers of beauty that shone thru in the way that only Wilco knows how to do it. Ashes of American Flags featured a beautiful guitar solo from Nels. A noisier than usual IATTBYH segued into One Wing. Nice. At Least That’s What You Said featured a gorgeous opening guitar and piano. After Black Bull Nova the band, lit in soft green lite settled into One Sunday Morning, a melodic and folky song that I was hearing for the first time. It made my night. Impossible Germany got the largest roar of the nite. Another new song, I think it’s called Dawned On Me with Jeff whistling. Loved it! The encore was a bonus with Jeff throwing in an extra song I think in appreciation of the crowd. Via Chicago’s crashing interludes were louder then ever, so much that if you had never heard the song before you might not have appreciated its beauty. BTW, the stage and lighting were genius and it appeared to me at times that there was a movie of images and color running slo mo on the hanging white cloth backdrops. As the song came to its end, the crashing sound was replaced with only the lights going crazy which gave the effect of the loud noise continuing yet could hear the beauty of the tune. Brilliant. A new song poppy and bubble gum followed called the Whole Love I think. I liked it. Funny Jeff moment: Jeff said the song has a lyric with Spirit Dove in it which is the stupidest lyric ever written. And that Glenn has now given Jeff the nickname Spirit Dove. He turned to Glenn and called him Asshole. Then quipped that’s what I now call him. Lots of smiling in the 2nd half of the show. The band seemed happy to be back on tour. Glen smiling at Jeff during War on War. Jeff smiling throughout Dawned on Me. Jeff and Pat real close face to face on Impossible Germany and Jeff getting animated. Glenn standing on his drum set. I’m Always in Love was on steroids. It sounded like there was a revving engine running thru the song. Heavy base. Powerful and so gooood. At the end, it didn’t feel like the show flew by. It was a night of solid sound from a band at the top of its game. It felt like having a good satisfying meal.

I just have to say, and I'm sure this will probably happen again sometime as the new songs get integrated into the band's catalog, but I think this show might have been a first for me: not a single song from Being There. Interesting... Now if that were ever to be the case with, say, Summerteeth...

Interesting... Now if that were ever to be the case with, say, Summerteeth... That's an interesting point about no BT. And it seemed like a rather random AM song. After the encore ended I half expected them to return once again to end with Monday -> Outtasite or similar combo, but it obviously never happened and I was OK with that. By the time they blazed through Via Chicago and War on War I felt like I'd been sent through an emotional spin cycle. The single solitary thing I missed in the set list was the Poor Places ->noise->NOISE!-> Reservations. Just a great show all around. Very loud, great crowd, excellent sound and I was up front. I hope someone taped it, but I didn't see any mics.
remphish1
SHOULDN'T BE ASHAMED! Now that is a nice surprise...please play that in NYC
Kalle
Last nights show was a really good one, definitely a different vibe than the two Toronto shows but I think no less enjoyable. It was super intense all the way up until OSM, and I don't think Jeff even said a word until HTFL. Shouldn't Be Ashamed was a real treat and I absolutely LOVE that they're not doing the Walken/Hate It Here songs in the encore, I'm Always In Love is a VERY worthy replacement. The light show is really really good on this tour and the projections are really enhancing rather than distracting. Also, no matter what we say about WTA though, BBN and One Wing are absolute monsters live, one of the many highlights for me. We met Jeff after the show and he said that the Montreal show was his favourite of the tour so far so I really think the new songs are fitting in really well amongst the old stuff (plus we have the most hilarious picture of Jeff ever). HappyHourHero
Here's the Gazette review - http://www.montrealgazette.com/Review+Wilco+Metropolis/5424431/story.html I'd agree with Kalle, they finally seem to have step up their game in the light show department. The projections on the hanging things are fantastic.
radiatortunes
Wow, that's one killer encore! (I agree with Kalle, nice that they're subbing in songs like "I'm Always In Love" for "Walken"). Sounds like it was a great show. Plus some A.M. love!

bleedorange
I'm on the fence about whether I want to hear One Sunday Morning live. It's a good song, but I'm not entirely convinced that a 12-minute folk song is something I want or need to experience at a Wilco show. How does it sound live?
