Today (well, yesterday now) my favorite sports team won the World Series. They've given me 40 summers of joy with a good number of heartaches also. But they're my team, they were my first love (along

Hadn't heard this in a while. Honk.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_KlckKFFc0

Heck yeah the better team won! Braves fan since 1975. And that means I have suffered through many awful seasons. 2021 began as a mediocre season and ended with a championship. Hell of a ride. GO BRAVE

I feel like cabin fever has maybe taken hold with all of this taint talk.

Funny story, we were playing a multi generational game of Cards Against Humanity at Christmas and my 14 year old son explained to my 60 some aunt what a "taint" and "queef" are.  Maybe it's not so funny.

Today I out ran the blizzard to make sure I could get to Pittsburgh for Wilco on Monday.

I'm glad you have your priorities straight.

about a foot (snow, not taint) in the suburbs of Baltimore, pretty light, easily shoveled.  Well, I'm making my kids shovel.  Still coming down.

I'm guessing no way.

Is it light fluffy stuff? Or wet heavy hell?

Somewhere in between, and you're correct about the snow blower, although it was probably an average of 18-20" on the driveway, since we went out and took off the first five or six inches before bed last night. Both of my snow shovels now have broken handles, but I got most of the driveway done (it is now filling up with snow again). We had planned to pay some neighborhood guys to shovel what's left of the driveway and sidewalks once the snow stops for good, so it looks like we're at that point now regardless. Guess I'll just have to spend the afternoon drinking beer.

Wow, I've never had a shovel's handle break on me. How did they break?

Were you using a straight shafted shovel, or one with an ergonomic back-saving curve in it, like this?

It was the D handle on both of them. Both are older shovels and the plastic handles just gave out - so not the shaft, but the bit where you grasp it with the back hand. The snow wasn't particularly heavy, and I wasn't picking up very much of it at a time. One was a straight-handle, flatter-bladed one, and the other was like the one above, but with a more pronounced curve and a deeper scoop. The scoopier one still works well enough that I can keep the dog's landing area clear.

Speaking of Manassas, we rented an old but very nice farmhouse on 200 acres kinda near Culpepper VA last summer. That's a damn nice area.
