Sir Stewart
If the question was Who was your favorite artist at each of these ages, it'd be The Beatles across the board. But I'm interested in who hit you the hardest, who you were most obsessed with, at that given time. Not the full five years before or after that age, but that particular age.I'll start with when I was age 5, only because I still link Sgt Pepper's to that time. 5 - (1978) - The Beatles 10 - (1983) - Van Halen 15 - (1988) - The Beatles 20 - (1993) - Beastie Boys 25 - (1998) - Bob Dylan 30 - (2003) - Wilco 35 - (2008) - Wilco 40 - (2013) - The Beatles (thank you, fatherhood) EDIT: Prince got the shaft here, thanks to my choice of target years. CCRGMac
1976-2015 (14 to 52) The Clash Others will rise and fall but The Clash will be a constant. I can never spin the Clash without reliving that thrill, the only exceptions are the over played radio tracks (London Calling, I Fought The Law and SISOSIG).

Winston Legthigh
Cool topic. 1974 (5): Most likely Beatles. My parents had the White Album and Sgt Peppers, and I listened to them constantly, but I know that the Sesame Street album, and The Osmonds loomed large1979 (10): Either KISS or Sha Na Na. KISS Double Platinum was the first album I bought with my own money, but Sha Na Na was the first rock-n-roll show I ever went to, and I loved their variety show. But my favorite album at the time was probably K-tel's Dumb Ditties.1984 (15): U2. Their Unforgettable Fire tour was the best thing ever. Also loved Madness, The Specials and English Beat.1989: (20): Pogues. I got into them in my late teens. Still love those first 4 albums.1994: (25): Cows and Firehose. Went to shows by these two bands as much as possible. Also loved Pogues, Oasis and Blur.1999: (30): Wilco. Listened to AM and Being There incessantly2004: (35): Los Lobos, Wilco, and Black Keys. Started collecting a lot of Studio One Reggae/Ska around this time.2009: (40): Probably the same. Started exploring more Brit Invasion bands.2014: (45): Kinks, Grateful Dead. Favorite Live band is The Waco Brothers. But, always the Beatles. They've never not been a favorite band of mine. The only bands that have dropped out of my listening rotation since the beginning are: KISS, Sha na na, Cows, and Firehose.

Albert Tatlock
5 1967 Sonny and Cher - I remember listening to my mum singing along to the radio in the kitchen. I had no records of my own. 10 1972 Monkees from TV repeats during the summer holidays and the theme from The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe for a similar reason. 15 1977 Beatles / Stones / Faces 20 1982 The Jam / U2 / Ry Cooder 25 1987 REM / Early 70's Dylan / 10,000 Maniacs / Los Lobos / Lone Justice / Long Ryders and a few emerging US artists that got me into Americana 30 1992 A bit vague - something like Crowded House, Jonathan Richman and Cowboy Junkies I think. 35 1997 Again vague and was not buying much music - Emmylou definitely and probably The Verve for instance off the top of my head but not much stands out. Could default to The Beatles I suppose. 40 2002 Wilco basically relit my interest in concert going. Ditto Elbow. 45 2007 Wilco / Aimee Mann / Elbow / The National 50 2012 Wilco / Frightened Rabbit / Richmond Fontaine Like many, The Beatles have been a constant source of joy. Emmylou also.
