Magnetized
And besides all that, I would just feel bad about not voting.
tinnitus photography
I am well aware of how people vote in MA. But that doesn't mean I don't think people shouldn't vote for the best possible candidate that matches their political philosophy. Without reigniting the arcane argument about whether voting for Ralph Nader was a good idea, I don't know that anyone wants to fuck around with the possibility of a President Trump or Cruz, but then again no one thought George W Bush would be too bad either. Or that the Supreme Court would decide the election instead of the voters. LouieBI am well aware of how people vote in MA. But that doesn't mean I don't think people shouldn't vote for the best possible candidate that matches their political philosophy. Put Sanders or Warren on the dem ballot and I'm all over that. I'm not sure that HRC has a political philosophy other than expediency.

KevinG
Looks like last night was a big night for Bernie.Apparently he still has a tough row to hoe. I think he still needs 70% or so of the remaining delegates to win.
tinnitus photography
the super delegate mass is a malleable one, though... if he starts kicking ass in total votes, we'll see how it shakes out. i think i read he needs 58% of the remaining delegates. still not an easy task. lost highway
Yeah, it's a pretty narrow path to victory. Still, the fact that a self described democratic socialist is a potentially viable nominee shows a shift in the American political dialogue.
KevinG
Yeah, it's a pretty narrow path to victory. Still, the fact that a self described democratic socialist is a potentially viable nominee shows a shift in the American political dialogue.I read an article were it stated that even if Bernie loses, he and America has already won. Showing the people that you can run an extremely good campaign without super pacs etc. Also getting his ideas out in the mainstream is a bonus.
Hixter
Still, the fact that a self described democratic socialist is a potentially viable nominee shows a shift in the American political dialogue.Or perhaps it show to what extent Americans dislike Hillary and/or the prospect of another Clinton White House. Mr. Heartbreak
So how many of our VC brothers and sisters outside of the US are watching this thing play out and scared to death by the prospect of Trump?
Ghost of Electricity
So how many of our VC brothers and sisters outside of the US are watching this thing play out and scared to death by the prospect of Trump? At least one. I'm an American citizen, and hopefully I will be voting for Bernie in November. If not, then HRC. If I had voted in the primary in the state I'm registered (Michigan) I would have voted for Kasich. The prospect of either a Trump or Cruz presidency scares the $#!t out of me.
KevinG
I know he was joking and he didn't mean it, but when was the last time a presidential candidate joked about murdering someone. Ted Cruz jokes about running over Trump with this car. Also with Trump's abortion flap (mislead, whatever), Cruz is seemingly coming out on top with the support of women GOP voters. And the seemingly sane on women's issues. But he has a pretty terrible record on women's issues. http://www.bustle.com/articles/71403-ted-cruzs-positions-on-womens-issues-would-make-him-a-disastrous-president The GOP is just plain embarrassing right now. The GOP is just plain embarrassing right now. When was the last time a presidential candidate implied with the emoted seriousness of a high schooler doing Shakespeare that he fucks rats and clearly said with the same theatrical seriousness that he wouldn't fuck his nomination rival? Talk about embarrassing. Didn't a VCer attend a Cruz rally not long ago? In case you somehow missed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BueBh90vME0

Talk about embarrassing. Didn't a VCer attend a Cruz rally not long ago? In case you somehow missed it: I just watched that video, having only seen a short clip from it before. That is laugh out loud funny, and the comments section is priceless. Cruz is such a Santorum...in the urban dictionary sense.
i'm only sleeping
So how many of our VC brothers and sisters outside of the US are watching this thing play out and scared to death by the prospect of Trump? At least one, me.All of the media in my country, even the conservative ones, loathe him. The general feeling is "not possible that such a bad joke can ever win but..what if he does...remember Hitler"...and such' I've just read this and I'm confused... http://quillette.com/2016/03/26/the-rise-of-donald-trump/
KevinG
So tomorrow the Wisconsin Primary is gonna be HUGE. Considering it is an open primary, I wonder how many voters will cross party lines to screw with the others. On one hand if Cruz defeats Trump (currently Cruz leads by 6 or so) this would almost guarantee a brokered or contested convention, which is something that I would like to see. On the other hand, we have the Dem race which is too close to call (I think 2 or 3 points separate Clinton and Sanders). A win in WI for Sanders really gives him further momentum, a win for Clinton finally shuts the door on any chance for Sanders. For the first time (maybe ever Wisconsin really matters in the presidential primaries). I still haven't made up my mind on what I am going to do. Further complicating the issue is a supreme court race where a Scott Walker appointee is running against a fairly liberal judge. It will be interesting how the turnout and the Presidential Primaries affect this race. But the biggest thing looming over tomorrow is the Voter ID law, which has its first true test. Predictions for tomorrow:Clinton narrowly beats SandersCruz defeats Trump by a large margin (Kasich gets a bigger than anticipated number of votes, but still comes in a distant 3rd)Bradley (GOP Supreme Court) wins by a slim margin, a recount will be asked for, she will ultimately win. There will be issues with the new voter ID law, long lines, etc.The Dem turnout will be lower than the GOP. In all actuality I forgot why I mentioned you and Trump in the first place. I let it go, apparently you did not. I didn't know I would ruffle your feathers. Yikes, the wrath of Sir Stewart is not be trifled with I guess. BTW I still hate the fact you use comic sans in your sig, that should be what is the most offensive here. KevinG
So went and voted this morning. I was voter number 324, which compared to the last election in Feb (which the only race on the ballot was the Supreme Court primary) at the same time I was number 24. So over 10 times the number of voters thus far. The polling place was crowded, but the everything went smoothly and efficiently. Much better than some of the long lines I saw in the Milwaukee area on TV. It took me longer to get my coffee at the local shop next door then it did for me to vote.
