Kalle
I've known about this happening for a while but here's Jeff confirming it. Get pumped y'all! http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/feb/20/wilco-frontman-jeff-tweedy-trumps-success-is-a-sign-of-how-broken-things-have-been
RainDogToo
YES! Judging from Tweedy's statement earlier this month, I'm very excited for this one! Tweedy describes these songs as "a fucked-up country record." He says it's about finished, but they're not in a big hurry to put it out.
kidsmoke
I already have it....you guys are going to love it and be happily startled by it! Pretty effing great!!!!!* * Oh calm down I'm totally lying. But I bet it is.

Boss_Tweedy
YES! Judging from Tweedy's statement earlier this month, I'm very excited for this one! Though I'm just giddy with anticipation over the prospect of a new album this year, Jeff's description of its sound definitely adds to the excitement for this long-time Uncle Tupelo/Wilco fan. Moss
Just heard it will be called "The empire strikes back"
anthony
Just heard it will be called "The empire strikes back"Cant wait for "Return of the Jedi" in 2017. I heard it starts off strong but slightly disappoints in the end with a song about teddy bears,
Yaz Rock
By then they'll probably play it safe and just go with "Blue Harvest"

!goose!
Could be out by May since the are going to be playing with Richard Thompson and I do recall his fiddle during the americanarama tour. Especially since it's going to be some country type arrangements. Didn't nels get a mandolin?
bböp
Could be out by May since the are going to be playing with Richard Thompson and I do recall his fiddle during the americanarama tour. Sounds like you're confusing Richard Bowden and Richard Thompson. Bowden plays fiddle in Ryan Bingham's band and sat in with Wilco on a few occasions on the AmericanaramA tour and afterward, while Thompson of course is the legendary guitar player who also played some shows on the AmericanaramA run. Regardless, I'd be pretty surprised if any new record is out before late summer at the earliest.
jbray
http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/music/ct-wilco-to-play-millennium-park-in-august-20160222-story.html This seems like a pretty interesting announcement given this knowledge. I would put my money around August simply because of this show.
nalafej
jbray - I thought the same thing other than that they are linking the show so heavily to Star Wars. Even in the article you quote: The band...is performing in support of its 2015 album "Star Wars."

Even in the article you quote: The band...is performing in support of its 2015 album "Star Wars."Sure, but it's still strange seeming as they started the front-to-back at Pitchfork in Chicago. I could see it if they were ending the tour there, but they are headed back to Europe after. It feels like that show, or after the London show are the windows. Plus, nobody but jambase has even caught on to the new album so it makes sense that the press still sees it as a "Star Wars" thing. I guess we'll see.
LouieB
The album could come out before Christmas next year too. LouieB
jff
It'll be interesting to see what they do with the Star Wars material once the next album comes out.

Analogman
Oh - check out some Fairport Convention before you toss him to the side.
jff
^^Agreed. I used to have Sirius and I got rid of it in large part because when they played older artists they rarely played their better material.

Hixter
The SiriusXM audio fidelity is so poor that I just can't listen to it.
