chuckrh
Emma Swift. Her recent album of Dylan covers is really good & produced by Pat Sansone to boot! She also lives with Robyn Hitchcock & has been streaming shows of cover versions with him. I heard the 80s one & it's really fun.

Thanks particularly for your Mazzy Star link! I had not seen that video before, and it may be the best, clearest, up-close video of them out there. I wish there was a whole show like that. if it hasn't been said yet, Taylor Swift's new record is very good. Mirrorball in particular is fantastic.

worldrecordplayer
I've been inexplicably absent from VC for way too long. Just checked back in today and thrilled to see this topic. Here's my list of favorite female rockers/singers/songwriters/musicians. I will limit to currently recording/performing women (sorry Grace and Janis). My list tilts heavily towards guitar playing women: Susan Tedeschi (more than a little surprised she hasn't shown up on any of the previous posts) Chrissie Courtney Lucinda Sharon Van Etten (not yet on a first name basis ) Nora Jones Amanda Shires
ih8music
The Highwomen (Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Amanda Shires) just won Song of the Year, Group/Duo of the year, and album of the year at the Americana awards. Worth checking out if you haven't already.

One of her songs was playing on satellite radio during my weekly grocery store excursion. It was impressive enough that I listened to Lush last night. Count me as a fan now. kidsmoke
These are such great lists! A lot of the women you'd expect to see mentioned, but also a lot of less familiar or unfamiliar names. Makes me want to sample more. I may combine all these names into one master list for reference. Feel free to add any commentary if you want to explain a certain inclusion!
Oil Can Boyd
One of my favorite albums from last year was Tanya Donelly and the Parkington Sisters. It's all covers and it's great.

So good to see you Basil! Nice list! I'll always have a soft spot for Laura V. because we saw her once, opening for someone, and ran into her after the show. She was so gracious, and took the time to stoop down and really talk with my then-7 or 8 year old daughter. Classy. 7 hours ago, sonicshoulder said: We were raised by my mother...female vocals filled the air constantly from our Emerson turntable. TCP
Everyone needs to check out the new album from The Weather Station, a great woman led band. Their new album Ignorance is getting a lot of well deserved praise.

Albert Tatlock
CMAT has appeared on my radar. Saw her/them on Later with Jools and the song she did there didn't immediately grab me, but this other song is an absolute belter - especially from the 2:00 mark. No auto-tuned warbling here. So I wouldn't call myself a fan yet but someone I am trying to keep tabs on. Apparently live shows are truly excellent.
Albert Tatlock
She really has some fine videos too. And a great sense of humour from what I can tell.
Brian F.
Taylor Swift Whitney Houston Shirley Manson Nina Persson Bjork Sade (the singer, although I also love the band; many people don't realize that Sade is a band named for its singer, not a solo act) Annie Lennox Annie Clark (St. Vincent) I also love every single I've heard by Dua Lipa but don't own anything by her. lost highway
Some of the greats old and new on here already. I'll add Laura Marling: Much lesser known, and I think criminally so is Rachel Sermanni https://youtu.be/m9DO0PYl7zw?si=82aiQ0ZMj726OmCM

ZiggyBratwurst
A few that come to mind off the top of my head that I haven't seen mentioned: k.d. lang Amy Winehouse Ella Fitzgerald (maybe the most beautiful female voice ever, IMO) Patty Loveless Valerie June
chisoxjtrain
Just a perfect song. Hard not to listen to it several times in a row.
