The latest Ryan Adams thread
cryptique replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
Apologies if this has already been linked (I ran a search on this thread and nothing came up)... (studio video) "Down In A Hole" starts at about 4:50. -
This is an incredible find. Listen to the song samples and read the biography. I may have to buy these discs.

Aw, man. I've always loved the Delaney & Bonnie stuff. Without them, Derek & The Dominos may never have existed (nor, perhaps, Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs & Englishmen band). RIP.

I can't wait for the Yankees to miss the playoffs despite their gargantuan payroll.

It might not be important to you... -
Orton frequently forces the ball into double coverage. The interception I'm remembering from last night wasn't the receiver's fault -- Orton telegraphed his pass and then made a poor decision to throw when a safety was coming over to help out the cornerback. It wasn't a timing pattern or anything like that -- it was just a bad decision made by a mediocre quarterback. And yet, I'd rather see Orton in the game than Grossman. That's how bad the Bears' quarterback situation is.

I'm glad the Bears pulled it out and kept their playoff hopes alive, but let's face it, they're not going to win any playoff games this year, if they even make it in. I'm really not sure how this team is 9-6. They're just not very good, and they still don't have a genuine NFL quarterback. Their defense is very good on first and second down but seem to crumble on third down. The Packers' kicker screwed up that last kick royally -- that was a chip shot field goal and should have been kicked high enough that no one on the line ever got near it. I'll take the win, but it was really ugly.

There should be a link to buy the sweater after you design it. My brother needs one.

We just started watching this: We're only two episodes in but we love it already. If you're a Simon Pegg fan, this is for you.

I'd love to watch video of that game. I remember being able to summon incredible focus -- when needed -- which is why I can see this happening.
-
Have you ever been on LSD? I, for one, can totally see this happening. I wouldn't want to try it myself (I shy away from crowds even on a normal day).

I that album.

Actually, I do mean it that way. These companies are likely to fail regardless of the billions they're about to receive. If all those billions do is extend their lives a few months, then yes, that money was wasted/disappeared/is gone. You answered your own question here: because the industry is so broken it can't be fixed. If that's the case, then there's no point in pumping several billion taxpayer dollars into it. Mine is a cynical view, to be sure. We'll just have to wait and see. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.
-
...until April or so, when that money's gone and the hand-wringing begins anew. Kiss off another seventeen billion taxpayer dollars, everyone!

GM (or is it Ford) shuts down for two weeks every Christmas, but it'll be three weeks this year. Not sure what the duration of Chrysler's usual holiday shutdown is.
