  1. My full report: After having played with it for a few hours it definately seems like something you can make good, cool use of after just playing around for a little bit, but it will take a long time to get it down. I thought for some reason the ebow would be less "exact." There are string guides on the bottom of the little unit that you have to make sure the strings are in. Two outside guides balance and the middle "guide" or "channel" is where the string runs that you want to ebow. I tried using it up on the neck and down by the pickups and can get some cool sounds both ways. Right now it see
  2. After years of wanting an ebow, I finally bought one today. VERY cool little toy. Anyone else out there using them? If so, got any cool tips or techniques?
  3. They tend to be much, much nicer than the faded lower end guitars that Gibson is putting out now. The one that I have played actually DID have uncovered humbuckers. They're pretty cool guitars. I just looked on ebay and there are a couple that make my wallet vibrate. Search for "Gibson the Paul." All of them look like the one I played, which was a 1973 my friend got for $100 (best. deal. ever.).
  4. Holy shit, that group of posts and replies was awesome. RA I hear ya.
  5. I add my vote on the sm57. It's a good mic and it can take a beating. I've had great success with my Mbox/Protools recording setup too, fyi.
  6. Thanks for the Whiskeytown stuff!! I originally thought this thread was about the type of footwear Mr Adams chooses to wear.
  7. one of my good friends lives in Hollywood and said that many of the "big" record companies have mailboxes specifically for this thing (I will be doing it this fall!!!). You just drop your album in the mailbox and hope for the best. I guess if you put one in there every week, sooner or later you'd hear something. It might be, "Quit giving us your goddamn record." But maybe then they'd listen to it.
  8. I really like doing that. My monitor is bigger than my (awesome) television and I have good speakers on the computer, which the tv also lacks.
  9. 25 Lab/Marketing Assistant at a Bioscience company. Have my degree in print journalism from U of Utah. Discoverd Wilco during the hooplah when YHF came out. I bought YHF without ever hearing it after reading an Acoustic Guitar World with JT on the cover. I was blown away and then got all their other albums. I play guitar, drums, bass, harmonica and keyboard as much as I can find time for. I have an on going recording project that will hopefully evolve into a releaseable album this fall. Single, no kids. No one else in the family is into music, except me. I also listen to Ryan Adams, Whiskeytow
  10. Forgive my not knowing, but was the 07/04/2001 right after or right before Jay's time was up. Like, was he asked to leave the night before and played that as his last show or was the noted "tension" on stage just setting the tone for what would soon come?
  11. Note: your avatar approaches the zone of causing epileptic seizuring...
  12. Gotta go with the Garnier "Surf's Up" paste. Very nice.
  13. Joey Fatone. Last name = fat one. Oh the irony...I'm waiting for a good "boy band ass" joke of some sort.
  14. Thank you for these. If I get my hands on the new Dylan, you'll get it.
  15. I made those faces in that order from clicking on this post to reading it.
  16. Here is my advice on repairing a hole in a wall: I just had to help my parents redo their basement, and I can tell you for repairing holes in the wall you will need a lot of small pieces of wood, spackle, drywall screws and a piece of drywall to fit the hole. For the small pieces of wood, fence slats work really well and you can cut them into desired pieces that will act as supports for the drywall between the studs. First off, you should make sure the hole is square or rectangular so you can easily cut a piece of drywall to fit it. So, with the hole in the wall there should be some visible s
  17. I think this has anti-semitic tones. (going for a little less-dense sarcasm, to lighten things up )
  18. Cherry sunburst, if I'm not mistaken....
  19. I understand that Israel is our ally, but I can't help but think this is a bad move on their behalf. I know similar situations have happened before and were eventually resolved, but as years pass the weapons that countries have in their possession are more powerful and inflict dramatically more damage than before. I don't know what kind of resolution will come, but it surely needs to. And if/when Israel sets up a buffer zone, who's to say that it won't just provoke constant fighting between them and Lebanon. Like I said, Israel is our ally, but if they shake the pot up so much that Iran and Sy
