  1. Was he cranky---I do enjoy listening to him, but he sure can be a dick. One of these days I am going to catch a jazz show at the Symphony Center.
  2. Happen to catch a Orchestra Baobab show at the Hot House back in 2002 or 2003 - that was fun show.
  3. Ecstasy is my favorite Lou Reed release - so I guess it's essential. Great tour behind that record, too.
  4. Night 1 and 5 for me. Still on the fence for Night 3.
  5. I kinda look at the Hall like Keith Richards looks at writing music. Maybe one day they will change the name of the place.
  6. Still need the Ginger Baker documentary that came out somewhat recently.
  7. Glad it was good show --- already returned the ticket last week -- I'll catch him next year, hopefully with Cook. Knows he is taper friendly and sells his soundboard in flac, so I will probably snag/purchase tonight's performance if and when it's available .
  8. I had a ticket to see the show, but once Elizabeth Cook canceled, I decided to get a refund. Would be interested to know who replaced Cook. Was really looking forward to the gig - actually the ticket was for tomorrow's gig at the Old Town, not tonight's at Space. Been in a bad rut lately due to cancelations - Ratdog last month, now Cook this month. Have a ticket to see Dylan in November and my figures are crossed.
  9. We got all the way through re-watching it (it was my wife's first time through) - but it definitely did peter out in the end --- I must have stopped watching it , back in the day - because I didn't remember the last half of the 2nd season at all. I never did see the movie - at least I don't think I ever did.
  10. As far as I understand, Tweedy (solo) and Wilco have been playing WTA songs, but not releasing the tunes on their Roadcase releases.
  11. Watched it last night up to Passenger Side - great performance - nice to have this artifact from this year of touring, since I didn't get a chance to see them this time around. Nicely shot (for the most part), too.
  12. My wife and I just entered the Apple family 4 days ago with a purchase of a MacBook Pro - with all the talk, I was expecting the new U2 record to be playing when we turned it on - but nothing. (I haven't gotten around to mess with the music side of things, yet) It is a nice machine.
  13. Nope - never knew Hiatt had a daughter in the music racket - need to check it out..
  14. John Hiatt is still making some great records - Master of Disaster and Same Old Man is as strong as his mid 80's work. His latest is pretty good, too.
  15. I have always enjoyed Brent's studio versions of his tunes more than the live versions - esp. Blow Away, where the live versions I heard on tape or saw on video never appealed to me, but I enjoy the studio version. . Though, if I witness more Brent shows, I may have a different opinion - I only saw two - the first one, he didn't sing any of his tunes and the second was his last - I don't think 'Never Trust a Woman' is a good song.
  16. I watched the Richards' segment but turned it off and forgot to go back to watch the Replacements' segment - thanks for the link.
  17. I think vocals during some of the 74 shows were affected by the microphones used. http://dozin.com/wallofsound/
  18. I know Mickey Raphael sat in with them on 9/7/14. He played on Give Back the Key to my Heart.
  19. I went the opposite this morning and listened to: Grateful Dead Live at Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center on 1985-09-10 (September 10, 1985) Some of these mid-80's shows are over so, so quick --- esp. the above. Okay show, never heard it before. Guess Weir was climbing the scaffolds during Sugar Magnolia. Now onto 9.10.83.
  20. Well, I didn't think I would cross off "walking my daughter down the aisle" from my father/daughter list so soon --- little bugger wouldn't go unless I went with her......
