  1. It's politics -- it's the same reason that most D's didn't go after Clinton and others. Politics is about the end game - it may mean supporting an accused 'sexual predator' to get there or to force Franken to resign because it is politically conducive to do so - same with the Conyers' resignation. We'll see how it plays out in 2018. I use to be one who supported the who one best served my views - if that person has a better chance of getting to where I think the country should go - I would be with him or her, no matter what their flaws may be - I think I may be changing my perspective on
  2. Enjoy - was hoping to catch it, but it ain't gonna happen. I still haven't seen a show at Elastic's new location and they move back in early 2015. Let us know how the show was - if you don't mind.
  3. Found the below via Politico --- guessing the R's knew that Franken will call the R's out as he fell on his own sword. Franken's career and Minnesota will be fine. As KevinG said, Keith Ellison would be a great replacement. Regarding Franken's resignation speech.
  4. It is a great set - the band sounds great and Dylan never sang better. I haven't gotten through the whole DVD that came with the set yet - Michael Shannon recites the sermons that Dylan gave throughout the tour - found it a bit weird.
  5. Who's fighting and what for?! Always enjoyed the footage from Muscle Shoals -- wish they would have made a whole documentary of those sessions. Stones hanging in Alabama in 1969 - what a concept. I didn't realize the sessions were so close to the Altamont dates. From hanging in Alabama (and two days later) to Altamont - only in America. Listening to 12/6/73 tonight
  6. Last night , my wife was part of postcard writing campaign to get the D voters out to vote in Alabama to defeat Moore -- definitely need to keep at it with elections - with all these distractions going on - elections still matter the most. This whole Jerusalem stuff is probably going to make things a lot more hairy.
  7. Caught the Austin Saturday webcast - beside a Minglewood clunker, I thought the show was solid. Esp. the 2nd set. 1st set had Oteil singing If I Had the World to Give - which was nice to hear. Set 2China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Dark Star The Other One Drums Space Uncle John's Band St. Stephen Morning Dew ENCOREOne More Saturday Night
  8. We put up our crap yesterday yesterday - my 8 year old had a blast on Spotify - we must have heard 50 versions of Jingle Bells, from every musical genre -- it appears that he ready for a rave - he enjoyed the house/techno versions the best - followed by the heavy metal versions. We always start our decoration day with Dylan's record. We listened to a Beach Boy one, too. I tried getting through some the Beatles Christmas stuff - via YouTube - but my kid wanted me to turn it off.
  9. Well technically the thread title is 'New Yo La Tengo!' In this case - new tour. Thalia Hall has become my favorite Chicago venue - so probably will catch one of the shows. Only saw Yo La Tengo in a festival setting or as an opening act - would like to see a full headline show performance.
  10. Yeah - the new one is not so good.
  11. Is there a link to this site, yet? I guess I have been following any of this. Is it the neilyoungarchives.com site? (his site has always bugged me - too cumbersome. Thrasher Wheat isn't any better)
  12. What's up with this 'new streaming deal'?
  13. Read that he is doing a webcast tomorrow.
  14. Sure, both of them - too. Steve is probably my favorite character on the show.
  15. I am sucker for Winona - every role of hers deserves an award... I do think her performance in Season 2 was pretty great, though.
  16. That's been Winona's M.O. since Lucas --- I thought she stepped it up in Season 2 - perhaps because she seemed to have a larger role, this season. Bet she will get an Emmy nod.
  17. Must admit - the "poor man' s Don King" is a good line --- all unbelievably ridiculous though... I guess it isn't unbelievable - which in itself unbelievable.
  18. Haven't watched this in the a long while - great performance (Rolling Stones with Angus and Malcolm - (SARSfest, Toronto Rocks, 2003) ( I would be remiss if I didn't write "Charlie's good tonight, ain't he?" - man, does he kill on this) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hstVYSDwCfs&app=desktop
  19. Esp.,- since it more than likely be the same exact show, since she is using backing tracks, etc. --- I would see her any chance I would get, too. My wife and I will be at the Chicago show in Jan. I have a show from this tour (a live webcast that she did) on my hard drive - but we opted not to watch it, yet. My friend saw her last night in St. Louis - haven't heard how it went, though.
  20. Compared to last year when I saw CRB at the same place (Thalia Hall) - this past weekend it did seem that the band had a bit of a chip on the shoulder - esp Casal -- I always enjoyed his playing, but this weekend -he was playing with much more emotion - taking center stage - doing the typical rock star guitarist stuff - which was great. Perhaps this is how he normally plays - but I don't I don't remember him playing like it last fall when I saw them. Not sure if this has any correlation with Magpie - but if it does - I hope it continues. A healthy competition is never a bad thing. I did ta
  21. Saw the Chris Robinson Brotherhood again last night. It was another great show. Tight vocals. Adam was in the mix well and he didn't over play. Casal played a lot more Telecaster - more than I expected and he was great through out - real great. Chris was pretty much on, too. His rhythm guitar playing still doesn't really add anything, but he doesn't get in the way, either. I would definitely catch them.
  22. Chris Robinson Brotherhood at Thalia Hall - Chicago
  23. Him and Keith were my favorite guitarist when I was kid. I wore out my sister's AC/DC 8-tracks.
