Grant Lee Buffalo's Mockingbird is a particular fave of mine at the moment, that fits this bill. --Mike

. I don't know if I am ready for an incredibly upbeat Wilco record yet, either. Even AM has some darker moments. The new stuff is really a mixed bag and it will be interesting to see how it fits together as a whole on the record, ideally it could be something like Ghost where the record as a whole makes up for some of the weaker parts. Shake if Off, Lullabys, Be Patient With Me and Side With The Seeds have calmed a lot of my fears, this might not be their best album, but I am confident it won't be a big let down. --Mike

Happy birthday my fellow West Virginian, I still can't believe Wilco played in Morgantown this year and I didn't even go, thankfully I caught them at Tall Stacks. Hope it's great one dude --Mike

. Not quite as cool as Mitch, though he's almost as funny, but that's a good description. --Mike

Extra scenes from "I am Trying to Break your Heart?"

Yeah I don't even think that site is up anymore, thankfully I think Jessie got almost everything before it was taken down and it's complied for prosperity on the DVD. --Mike -
Favorite Wilco Song to NOT make a Wilco album?

Yeah, I'd love to eventually find out what that snipet is. It's gorgeous. --Mike -
New itunes purchase... excellent stuff. Has anyone here heard Fed? --Mike

The Beatles: Strawberry Fields Forever, but ask me tommorrow and it could be The Kinks' Waterloo Sunset. --Mike

Yeah, I love Meaningless also. I grabbed the Bumbershoot show from Dime a couple months ago, one of the songs on it has a couple of dropouts and I think some of the banter was edited out, it's still amazing though. So I guess this is the Mike and Sarah thread. --Mike

Yeah that was killer, Kiefer was really interesting in that film also, but the music was the main draw for me. I kind of had my doubts too, I found them to be pleaseant but nothing ground breaking, but the combination of that dobro and the voice (almost Buckley-esque) really won me over. I should also thank you for that Brion link again, I don't know how I managed to miss that, but Uyen and Hodie inspired me to become a Brion maniac as well and I was thrilled to find even more shows and the VH-1 pilot, too. What an excellent site. --Mike

I saw a documentary about them on VH-1 actually over Christmas. Kiefer Sutherland is involved with their management/record label. It inspired me to check out some of their stuff, I really like their sound. Rocco's style on the dobro is really unique and interesting. Good band. --Mike

I was once 'From Rolling Stone,' and it wasn't anything
mpolak21 replied to Analogman's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
This is pretty spot on, but as someone who reads DeRogatis pretty frequently his constant need for taking shots at Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone can get pretty old. I understand he got dicked over by the magazine, but it might be time for him to drop the grudge. --Mike -
I second the recommendation on the entire album, The Man is the best track on it, but the other tunes are pretty solid. I had to get into these guys based on the connection they had with the Beatles parody band The Rutles. If not for a late night viewing of All You Need is Cash, my obsessive music fan journey would have never began. --Mike

I dig this stuff quite a bit, pt. I love Where The Redbirds Sing, that's going on to the ipod as soon as possible. I'll keep an eye out for new stuff, I think these have quite a bit of promise. --Mike

How did I manage to miss this site? --Mike

Yeah it's not a great rip, it's about 128 I think.. Anyway it didn't quite grip me as much as Funeral, but Funeral took about ten listens for me to really understand it's brilliance, and it's not a perfect rip of it either. Still it's a damn good album, we're about four weeks into 2007 and there are already about three albums that would have placed in my top 5 last year (this, Of Montreal and Andrew Bird). Happy Birthday Kidsmoke and M Christine

Happy Birthday to two of my favorites here. Hope it's an excellent day ladies. --Mike -
Based on that comparsion, I guess I really need to see this. I've actually had my eye on it for awhile, I don't think it's playing anywhere in the Wheeling area but it might be worth the roadtrip. --Mike

I usually sleep stomach down, I used to have really bad stomach aches as a kid and for some strange reason lying on my stomach would make me feel a little better. I guess it became kind of a thing over the years. I do keep my face turned to one side, I only had to see One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest once to be terrified of having my face in a pillow Great poll. --Mike

That's the instrumental version of Let Me Come Home, the version with lyrics was realeased on an Amos House Collection. Excellent, excellent tune. --Mike
