I know elton john gets beaten up at times, but the live version of the greatest discovery is pretty moving. lyrics: Peering out of tiny eyes The grubby hands that gripped the rail Wiped the window clean of frost As the morning air laid on the latch A whistle awakened someone there Next door to the nursery just down the hall A strange new sound you never heard before A strange new sound that makes boys explore Tread neat so small those little feet Amid the morning his small heart beats So much excitement yesterday That must be rewarded must be displayed Large hands lift him through the

I've only given it a couple listens, but the guitar seems to be tuned down a full step (tune all the strings down E to D, A to G, etc.) then, in that tuning, it's a Bm (actually Am when stepped down, etc.), then Em (actually Dm) (that trades up to Bm a few times), then to G (that trades up to C a few times), then Am and C. I can write it out later, but if you'll just tune everything down a whole step, it's fairly straightforward. hope that helps.

what are some Beach Boysesque bands?

this was the only real problem for me. I appreciated the time that was put into this movie making it interesting and different, but it kind of nagged me a bit that at the heart of all of this was one business trying to make a tactical move on another business. if the key inception had had to do with something a bit more noble/tragic/? it probably would have gotten me more invested emotionally, but all the same I certainly enjoyed the ride. edit: This site has some good analysis. also, one has to remember when getting into really tiresome, whiny arguments about this movie, that we're all

Wow...I'm really on a downward spiral
Atticus replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
that is the exact story I quoted when picking up my one year chip, to say "thank you" to my sponsor, from the episode "Noel" Crow, keep seeking help til you find it. hang in there. -
I agree with that. unforgettable fire is pretty solid as well. I forget that U2 used to be awesome, due to the fact that there is a whole generation that's been born since they had balls.

no. there are many albums I'd put in my all-time favorites that contain tunes I skip over.

the only ones I can safely throw out without consideration are: Wilco -- Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Wilco -- A Ghost Is Born Cowboy Junkies -- Caution Horses hmm... good thread to ponder, though I honestly say this with no intent to be contrary for contrary's sake or to poop on others' appreciation for this album, but I just. don't. get. it. I have tried at least a dozen times to get through that album, and with a small number of exceptions (and those exceptions are brilliant, IMO) most of the album sounds like whiny drivel to me. I recognize the recording achievements and that McCartne

maybe I merge the books and the movies too much, but I never looked at the Clarice Starling character as being propped-up by or dependent upon men. Sure she learned much from some male characters, but we're talking about an intelligence agency that was overwhelmingly dominated by men, so it's not surprising that she would be mentored by men, etc. and as a side point, to further derail this thread from its intended topic (sorry, OP): does a female character have to "stand alone" to be an important or inspiring character? this seems kind of short-sighted and perhaps stereotyping from anothe

bands you might listen to more if they had a different singer
Atticus replied to Atticus's topic in Someone Else's Song
yes. I thought naming it "bands you might listen to more if they had a different singer" might imply this point, but apparently it was kinda murky -

Atticus replied to Atticus's topic in Someone Else's Song
oh hell yes. now, Subdivisions is one of the most kickass songs ever ever, and I wouldn't touch it, but his singing in pretty much everything else is like nails on a chalkboard to me. -
a friend of mine sent me an (apparently) old Kings of Leon song the other day, and I kinda liked some of the music, but I can't get around that guy's voice. I used to have this problem with the Flaming Lips early on, but I grew to love Wayne. I've met people who have this issue with Led Zeppelin do your thing...

the soundtrack to honeysuckle rose is just amazing. amazing.

I am finding that many people's descriptions/criticisms of the finale are more baffling and a-logical than anything the show ever did (or didn't do) I think I should maybe step away for awhile...

"make love to Mrs. Bowman"

live I'd probably pick via chicago, so I pooted for that, but poor places is pretty much a tie.

it's not very well-written

I assume people are referring to the fact that the lyrics are more narrative, more conversational, grounded in real life every day occurrences and emotions, as opposed to say being an aquarium drinker assassining down the avenue and what not.
