An open letter to all you bug squishers
Edie replied to Good Old Neon's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I only kill mice, and mosquitos when they are buzzing in my ear at night. Otherwise, I shepherd them out of my house. Fortunately we don't seem to have mice in our new place -- and there aren't any cockroaches either. They would also be on death row. My former husband's boss grew up in Montana and was such a hunter that he would kill anything any time -- even while snorkeling in the Caribbean, he insisted on taking a small harpoon and ended up killing an angelfish (which mate for life as I understand it). He didn't DO anything with it -- it couldn't be eaten, and he didn't want to stuff it o -
But not in London

Thanks for posting that GON

You brits hardly have a corner on the "more rotation" or "spiders takes up too much time" argument For a band that is supporting a new record, they cut a pretty wide swath through their catalog. Here's my count: WTA - 5 SBS - 4 AGIB - 5 YHF - 4 ST - 2 MA I/II - 1 BT - 1 AM - 0 Plus, Can't Stand It and Nothingsever hadn't been played live by the full band in years until the residency in Chicago 18 months ago. Radio Cure and Forget the Flowers are hardly regulars in the rotation, and the new stuff needs to get played. All in all -- they really do hit nearly every corner of their catalog m

When did Kansas secede from the union? If you are living in the US today, you have benefited from legislation either written by Ted Kennedy or shepherded through the senate by Ted Kennedy. I cried this am - which I did not do for Michael Jackson.

The Birds. Game over.

I am so sorry to hear this Scott. Many vibes to you and your family. SBS is a fine album - I am always happy to hear the songs live, but I generally don't listen to the record .

Ha I was wondering what that was!

Thanks for uploading. I missed it this am. I loved the music snippets (Satan, My Kingdom Must Come Down fer chrissakes!) and I thought the interview was very well done.

Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

I think you can make the argument that it was allowed to fail. Bankruptcy is failure. Certainly it was helped through that phase by the government, but the effect of its complete failure would have meant tumbleweeds to 6000 dealerships, cities and towns all over the US, not to mention the rest of the world. By splitting the company into two and dividing it into good/bad parts, the "good GM" will now have a fighting chance (and will save 4800 dealers + factories + parts manufacturers -- in other words a nice chunk of the GDP). -

What would you have suggested in September/October of last year? -

Anyone who thinks that what the fed/treasury dept and the federal government did in the last months of 2008 up to now didn't help avert an economic collapse the size of which would have buried the depression of the 30s has his/her head in the sand. Are we out of the woods? No. But it would have been way worse and lasted way longer. -
Couldn't the same have been said of the Patriot Act? And while you say might say to my comment that "many people's lives were at stake -- speed was of the essence", I think far more lives are at stake with the state of our unsatisfactory health care system.

I would like to know how one could verify that they actually followed their supposedly superior mastering methods

I voted for Can't stand it -- I just love the way it is sooo loud to open the record. I am slightly biased as Summerteeth is the only studio record I listen to with any regularity.

Casablanca also has a historical element -- it was made during the war at a time when the outcome was far from a foregone conclusion. So when at the end, Elsa chooses to go with her husband instead of stay with Rick, exactly what world Rick was facing was not entirely clear -- so there was a big fat question mark as to what the shape of the world was going to be like in the near-term, which added to its poignancy (IMHO).

Yes but gogo, you have your fancy schmancy member title, and the moderator thing is a tip off too -
Interestingly, he was logged onto the board last night.... the plot thickens.

This song is great because it translates so easily from the full band in full freak-out mode with thousands of people screaming to Jeff playing it solo acoustic in an soft, intimate setting -- and both are equally enthralling.

Ha -- I think this is the thread where BigRay said he wanted to kick one or more of us women in the ovaries -- but then edited his post. Priceless stuff, really
