  1. I think that quote you referred to about Wilco being part of the fabric of people's lives was made in reference to 9/11. I see the postponement of one show as not really being as big a deal as that. Sorry.
  2. Wilco were scheduled to be on Conan tonight. I am assuming that they were offered SNL instead once that show came back from the writers strike. This is all assumption though.
  3. Eat at Lizard's Thicket in Columbia, SC. While there, mourn the loss of one the best indie record stores in the US, Manifest.
  4. Please note: iTunes is NOT my preferred method of music playing. I use it for parties and making mixes... that said: 1. Young Folks - Peter Bjorn & John 2. Plasticities - Andrew Bird 3. Swim Team - Baby Teeth 4. She Will Have Her Way - Neil Finn 5. Myriad Harbour - New Pornographers 6. Into Temptation - Crowded House 7. When You Come - Crowded House 8. Four Season in One Day - Crowded House 9. I See The Rain - Marmalade 10. Last One Standing - Neil Finn 11. Multiply - Jamie Lidell 12. Tonight Will Be Fine - Leonard Cohen 13. That's Just The Way I Want to Be - Blossom Dearie 14. Suffer f
  5. If you go see them make sure you get there for opener Jay Reatard. He's one of my favorites right now!!
  6. In the future perhaps people traveling to shows should make reservations at shitty motels like Motel 6 where you can cancel the reservation.
  7. I think I'm going to take my chance with day of. Whenever Nels plays in Chicago w/o Glenn it's not really a big thing. The Empty Bottle was half Empty...
  8. R.E.M. got three in 1995, but the writing was REALLY awful then.
  9. I started to feel that way for a while. Someone pointed out to me that the majority of people DON'T go to all the shows though. As a veteran of over 100 Wilco show, I was super pleased with the Residency run and I do NOT agree that they sound just as good on CD. I find myself listening to Kicking Television (the live album) over the last two studio albums.
  10. I'm not a huge fan of Glen and the Frames, but I was certainly rooting for them over the Disney pap. He made his speech and the cut Marketa off with the hurry up music. When they came back Jon Stewart brought her back and she made a very lovely speech.
  11. Mark Mytrowitz Athens - Former Athens resident Mark "Microwave" Mytrowitz, 52, died Friday, February 15, 2008. Born in Kearny, NJ and raised in Melbourne, FL, he was the son of the late Alexander Mytrowitz and Ruth Edna Decker. Known affectionately to his friends and family as Microwave, he enjoyed a successful, life-long career in the music industry. An avid surfer in his youth, he embarked on his career path by owning and operating his own lighting system. From his early 20's on, he worked as a guitar technician for a number of national acts including Kansas, the Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse
  12. I do like to give dramatic readings of the Personality Parade. It's up there with Reader Digest.
  13. You and your DVR need a better relationship. It's lying to you.. http://www.nbc.com/Late_Night_with_Conan_O.../02252008.shtml
  14. It does seem odd that they would appear on 2 NBC shows within a week. My guess is they were scheduled for Conan but when SNL came back from the strike they needed someone, so maybe Conan is now a no go?
  15. Ikea has cheap frames. Not sure if they have the exact size though.
  16. My track record is pretty good. I was correct on Nels retiring his long used Jazzmaster... I wish I hadn't invested all that money on their Grammy win in Vegas though.
  17. Hate it Here and Walken That sounds like a good guess... Perhaps we'll see the Total Pros?
  18. Wilco on Saturday Night Live March 1!!! I have nothing else to say.
  19. Sooz and I are both pretty sick. I have all this gunk in my lungs. Still going to a show tonight though, what are you going to do? (I second the Neti Pot, it's probably helped me not be AS sick.)
  20. I don't think Jeff's delivery in the demos is all that great either. I love Ed's voice, but I guess it's apples and oranges. I think it's five pepsi points.
  21. If LouieB doesn't already have a magnificent reception planned please PM me!
  22. I think Palace at 4AM (the album attributed to Jay Bennett and Edward Burch) is a super fantastic album, and Edward has a beautiful voice. Save your Pepsi Points and buy a few songs.
  23. Well, to make it somewhat Wilco related LeRoy Bach is touring with Iron and Wine.
