  1. Are you kidding? You liked KISS as a ute but not Cooper? Christ, man! That '70-'75 period has some of the best riffs this side of Keef imo. I don't give a shit about the "shock rock" thing, but there's some mighty fine rock and roll songs by the original band.
  2. LOOK at those tour dates! 10 shows in 11 nights (all in different cities), in the dead of Winter, in some of the coldest areas of the Continental 48. You have to say those guys have cojones.
  3. I have not heard this night for some inexplicable reason! Have you heard the previous night? If not I'll listen to 8/25 if you listen to 8/24 LOL. Seriously though - I've probably raved about that 8/24 Dark Star > Dew more than once here, it could be my favorite pairing of that combo. Pretty unique Dark Star for the time, Keith uses the Rhodes and it has a very fusion/Miles/Weather Report - type feel for a bit.
  4. WHAT IN THE FUCK DOES A BAND HAVE TO DO TO GET INTO THAT SHITHOLE HALL OF SHAME? Purple, Yes...those bands filled stadiums! They ARE Classic Rock! Sorry, but Hall and Fucking Oates over Yes or DP? It's ridiculous. There's no doubt in my mind that if Rolling Stone didn't get it's start in SF in '67 The Dead wouldn't be in there either. Whoever votes on this stuff should be savagely beaten with a crowbar. Yes, I'm pissed. I'll never visit that House of Ill Repute in this lifetime.
  5. These two, for sure. Cars Can't Escape from YHF sessions as well. I'm a YHF nut, as you know. As far as other records go: things like Hotel Arizona, How To Fight Loneliness, and Wishful Thinking really create a mood.
  6. Me either, and I have literally dozens of books around here.
  7. Nope. Now and forever, The Grateful Dead.
  8. For me the thing about Brent was I didn't appreciate him enough until he was gone. Then I realized what a true talent he really was. I'd say 2/3 or more of my 76 shows were with Brent, and we loved to rag on him (just as we did with Weir). Then Bruce came in and it was like WOW they still got it going on! After Bruce left it became VERY apparent that Brent's shoes were large, much too large for Vinnie to fill.
  9. Oh hell yeah. Brent's Funky Scarlet. Certainly a top 10 version, and quite possibly the longest ScarFire ever at more than 35 minutes.
  10. Soon, oh soon the light Pass within and soothe this endless night And wait here for you Our reason to be here Soon, oh soon the time All we move to gain will reach and climb Our heart is open Our reason to be here Long ago, set into rhyme Soon, oh soon the light Ours to shape for all time Ours the right The sun will lead us Our reason to be here
  11. I bought that within days of its release. A perfect record for me at that time in my life. As far as as posthumous compilation things go it's really quite good. I'm not a Hendrix completist so I can't say what is a 'definitive' version or anything, but most of those sides are very well done. Red House was the one I really love the most - it's just SO far beyond the studio version. Truly interstellar blues. "I didn't say a damn thing about company, though".
  12. "GODDAMN, Bear get on it!" Really for me the 20 minute PigFest at the end of the disc made it worth the money.
  13. I got mine on Tuesday. Normally I'll get an email saying the discs have been shipped but not this time. I'd call 'em, man. It IS a fun listen.
  14. That Spanish Jam is a real revelation. Best one ever? Could be.
  15. How about you just calm down and listen to Jerry?
  16. Well I'll be damned. I thought I had EVERYTHING. If anyone can help a brother out PM me I'd be grateful!
  17. That Half-Step from 5/7 is a MONSTER. Certainly one of the best I've heard.
  18. It HAS to be Holiday In Cambodia by DK. If it isn't I call bullshit.
