  1. Hoping the power stays on! That's a really great run, Aman. It's such a shame that The Beach Boys' set isn't included - that is a really fun run of tunes.
  2. PT - 25+ minute versions of the Dead's "Dark Star" will help alleviate any potential short attention span problems. Which reminds me....when my daughter (now 19) was about 3, maybe 4 years old we were on a drive to the big city (about an hour away). I throw on a '73 show, and we come to a long long version of Playin' In The Band.. After it's over I asked her, "So, what do you think of THAT"? And she gives one of the most concise, coherent arguments for why people don't dig the Dead EVER. She says, "I like their songs, but I don't like it when they practice". I swear to God! The kid w
  3. God, I hope that comes out. And hopefully the sound will be a little crispier than for example the live Burritos cds that came out a couple of years ago.
  4. I'm probably biased toward '81 (the year I first saw the band), but that is SUCH a good year - imo no year after that tops it. That 8/12 show is a really good one - both sets smoke.
  5. Dude, you missed your calling. You should be speaking on the floor of the statehouse.
  6. In response to Crow's post. Also - Crow, that pic of Archie you posted looks VERY much like the poster I had on the wall of my bedroom when I was a kid. I had 2 posters (I think my parents got them from SI) - the other one was Bob Hayes.
  7. Happiest of birthdays to you, my friend. Thanks for all you do for me, and VC, too!
  8. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Summerteeth Being There AM A Ghost Is Born Sky Blue Sky Wilco (The Album) #2 & #3 are so close they can be interchangeable
  9. You will not be able to stay at home, brother. You will not able to plug in, turn on and drop out. You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip out for beer during commercials, because the revolution will not be televised. THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox in 4 parts without commercial interruption. The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat hog maws from a Harlem sanctuary. THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED The revoluti
  10. I'd certainly hope so! For 74 bucks it should be mint. I think the price tag on mine was 35, but then I'm assuming the books are all out of print now. Some of those cats who wrote reviews in those books became tape trading buddies of mine. Barry Barnes in particular turned me onto a lot of NRPS SBDs.
  11. Have a great day, my friend! Thanks for all the great music - I'm currently on a big Califone binge. What a fantastic band.
  12. I see they have no qualms about running an ad (with Tebow) that is sponsored by (I think) Focus On The Family..
  13. We were told there would be no mention of Greg Lake.
  14. Damn, Aman, that is some cool shit! (talking to Pete) I tend to agree that if he was involved in any truly bad stuff they would've nailed him for it. Regardless of who he is.
  15. I got this show thrown in with a trade many years ago and it kicks serious ass! In fact I should go dig it out and give it a spin!
  16. We were told there would be no math. Nice job, Winston I did
  17. Happy Birthday, oh Donna! Hope your day was the awesome!
  18. Happy Birthday. M(hris! Keep a fire for the human race Let your prayers go drifting into space You never know what will be going down Perhaps a better world is drawing near Or just as easily it could all disappear Along with whatever meaning you might have found Don't let the uncertainty turn you around Go on and make a joyful sound
  19. I did see RHCP at an all-ages show in Indy where they headlined (with TSOL & Thelonius Monster) and there were no more than 100 people there. It was with Hillel. I don't know if it counts though, because they only had 2 albums out, and it might have been their first national tour. One thing is for sure - those fuckers were insane beyond belief, and they rocked like crazy.
  20. $2 pints? $2 vinyl? Be more specific, Frog!
  21. I saw John Hammond, Jr. in the front row of The Vogue Theatre (Indy) in 1988, and it was just THE BEST. After he did the show he walked right up to the bar and I went right over and had the best chat about everything. That dude was really together - dressed in some slick clothes, taking a whiskey . Anyone who has never seen this guy needs to check him out soon if you can. The best white interpreter of rural country blues I've ever heard live.
  22. Caliber - even though you are WRONG, so wrong, I still love your avatar.
  23. No self-respecting Head should be without 5/26/73 in their collection. It's long, and uniformly strong. Regarding the batch of new tunes that started dribbling out in '92 - one of the great losses (to me, at least) was Phil's "Wave To The Wind". The first times I heard that tune I KNEW it had the potential to become a modern-day "Eyes"-style tune...but they constantly tinkered with the arrangement, and after a few tours (to lackluster reception) they dropped it from the rotation. How many times did we see Jerry rescue "Boring-a" with a tasty jam at the end? That song ruined a number of
