  1. I wish! My old tour buddy is there for the whole run. You enjoy yourself, Suites!
  2. 1. Judas Priest - The Murat Theatre, Indy 6/29 - my first metal show in 27 years, and I was not disappointed. Small room, first night of the tour, no opening act, British Steel in its entirety. 2. Phish - Deer Creek, 6/19 - yes, they are BACK. The Fluffhead from this show was perfection. 3. Gov't Mule - Murat Egyptian Roon, Indy 10/23 - Jackie Greene sits in for the last set of tunes - Soulshine, Sugaree, and a mammoth Cortez the Killer. I can't claim the Wilco show I saw in Bloomington in April to the one of the best. In fact, it was kinda tame.
  3. Just a friendly reminder of how bad ass the '72 Dolphins really were - they won 10 of those games with their backup QB! Without Manning the Colts are a .500 team at best. And fwiw Shula said today on ESPN that he would've done the same thing.
  4. Wow, I've never heard that very interesting sounding set 1 from 12/31/89. I do have set 2, where Bobby announces the New Year by saying, "My buddy over here just reminded me that it's the beginning of a new dickhead, ummm i mean decade". The Victim > Dark Star from that show is very very good. '89, to me, felt like the year where we finally got Jerry all the way back from the brink. EXCELLENT year of music - I think I saw more shows that year than any other.
  5. I feel your pain, man, but dig it - it's a catch-22 for the Colts. You know if they keep the starters in for a meaningless game and then Manning gets put out for the playoffs with an injury the coach would get publicly stoned to death. I'd much rather have a 15-1 team that wins the ring than a a 16-0 team that fucks up in the playoffs.
  6. My old lady got me this DVD for Xmas, and it's just a brilliant documentary. Lots of personal recollections from Don himself, and a lot of tantalizing footage. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan.
  7. That was my first thought as well. But - since you got the degree you could use me for a guinea pig.
  8. Yep. I think JW Guerico (who produced the CTA album) had a hand in some of their records. I saw them over in Muncie a few years ago - I think the bass player was the only remaining member, but I did get to talk to him after the show, and have my copy of "Susan" signed.
  9. That is a nice list, Aman. I've been meaning to pick up some Buckinghams for quite some time now. I had the 45s as a kid, and the tune "Foriegn Policy" is one of the great psych tracks imo. I'll throw in another vote for Bless Its Pointy Little Head as well - that is the Airplane at the peak of their powers.
  10. Obviously Phish is the first band that comes to mind for me. 90% of their tunes have the most inane lyrics you've ever heard - but that is part of their charm, if you ask me. I don't really listen to them for deep insight, I listen to them because they've written some of the most beautiful and powerful music this side of Zappa.
  11. I swear to God I will find you and cut you for this post. I agree with IATTBYH - I'd rather listen to almost ANYTHING (even the LP-side length version of "Don't Worry Kyoko") than to hear Wonderful Christmastime.
  12. Welcome, ElBirdos. You will love this place - if you can say anything about Wilco's fanbase it would be that by and large they are extremely knowledgeable about the music. And - no worries about the DMB thing. When I came here about 4 years ago I caught some flack about being a phan of that band with the phunny spelling. But they have their own ongoing thread now!
  13. I wouldn't say I'm shocked, but I certainly would say I'm a bit disappointed. Love him or hate him Bernie hit the nail square on the head the other day when he said that big money controls the US Congress. In order to get ANY kind of a health care bill we had to give the insurance and drug companies everything they wanted. Next up - climate control! So of course that means the coal and oil industries will get whatever they want. DAMN. And - there is no way in Hell that we'll ever have to say "President Palin".
  14. Paging Mr. Wheelco, paging Mr. Wheelco....
  15. Happy Birthday Kyle! I hope your day is filled much weird and wonderful tunes!
  16. I always thought that a GD Trivial Pursuit game would be the shit. If only to prove what a fucking geek I am.
  17. On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me: 5 TEA BAGGERS! 4 ACORN volunteers 3 years till doomsday 2 Miss USAs and a Kanye a-polo-gizing
  18. Oh HELL yes. I want to move to Vermont for Xmas. Then I would feel like I have REAL representation in DC.
  19. Day-umm, IRDB. What a fucking story! Btw, who are you over there? You can PM me if ya don't want it to be public knowledge.
  20. Vibes heading your way from the flatlands, Sarah. Hang in there girl.
  21. Many thanks to both you & Ikol - I honestly did not know this. I was baptised Catholic, but I've never spent a day in the Catholic Church that didn't involve a wedding or a funeral.
  22. VH, I totally understand your reluctance to part with the hard-earned to see the latest incarnation, but keep in mind the you'll pay double (from what you paid in the 90s) to see any band that has been around for that long. Just sayin'.
  23. "Finally seeing the light of day in 1999 with the 'So Many Roads' box set". David, I hate to bust on ya, but "Mason's Children" WAS on the 1996 release "Dick's Picks 4" from the Fillmore East Feb. '70 run.
  24. The thing that's always puzzled me is the Immaculate Conception is on my birthday (Dec. 8), and yet it only took 17 days after that for the baby J to be born. Someone please explain this to me.
  25. My only argument would be that YHF should be #1. Hell, I would argue that YHF is one of the 20 best rock records ever made.
