I preordered Rockin' The Cradle yesterday and look forward to getting it this week in the mail. It would be nice if The Dead toured again in the near future. I would definitely make an effort to see them tour this time around. I just wonder if they would recruit Jimmy Herring again for a brief period or if they would go with someone else since Jimmy's playing with Widespread these days.

could we see appearances by the Total Pros and Andrew Bird on the next record? possibly, it wouldn't be the first time that Wilco has brought in other musicians. i feel that both Andrew and Total Pros have brought another kind of energy to Wilco shows, not better or more positive, just a different feel and you could feel the band respond favorably to their appearances. in the end, i suppose we'll see what happens. but the possibility of their inclusion in the creative process would make me happy.

I only have Near Truths & Hotel Rooms but it is a fantastic album. I love the story of the ballad of the devil's backbone tavern. i was actually singing 'DB Cooper' to myself the other day.

My uncle had a video copy of The Compleat Beatles and i watched it a couple of times. From what I remember, this was actually a reworking of a rough draft documentary that Apple was putting together called All You Need Is Love. Neil Aspinall was trying to put together a comprehensive documentary about the beatles but eventually abandoned it for one reason or another. Neil eventually took the basis of this idea more forward with the anthology series. So essentially the Compleat Beatles was supposed to be the Anthology but many years earlier. It is still interesting to watch though.

watch the Anthology footage. however, they should at least release a good version of the concert with some bonus footage. other than that, the best stuff is really in the anthology

its totally awesome for them that they got signed to Columbia. they work their asses off and they're very nice and humble guys to boot. its been my dream they would open for Wilco at some point. That would be a kickass show, I think. btw-favorite Avetts songs 1.Denouncing November Blue 2.Pretty Girl At The Airport 3.Left on Laura, Right On Lisa 4.SSS 5.Backwards With Time

I bought a copy of the Eagles' One of These Nights on vinyl this weekend. I listened to my dad's copy a lot as a kid, so it has sentimental value for me. My only beef with the Eagles is their ego. I'm sure its interesting to see them live, but why would I pay 100 bucks to see them live when I can listen to one of the records for free and it sounds exactly the same?

Smashing Pumpkins to play Horseshoe Casino
jimtweedy1977 replied to LouieB's topic in Someone Else's Song
before you know it, they'll be playing petting zoos. i agree with you Lou, playing a casino is a sad state of affairs. my sister went and saw Boston at the casino in my hometown. i asked her if she knew if there were any zoos on their tour. she didn't think i was very funny. go figure. -
for some reason, i like the live version better. the performance from 5-23-95 is especially nice

congrats to Glenn and family!

I was at that show. Unfortunately, i was wiped out and had to drive home late. I really liked Magheeta a lot. Then, back in the early spring, I listened to one of their podcasts from the 40 watt and got hooked on them solidly. I plan to see them in September in C'ville. I also got hooked solidly when I heard Jim James and Calexico do Goin To Alcupolco on the I'm Not There.

it seems like theres a certain romance to having vinyl. i remember growing up listening to my parents record collection-CCR chronicle was a constant on the turntable. i still like the idea of the crackle and pop, then beautiful music. however, i'm still kicking myself when i had a chance to buy an original copy of the hibtone version of radio free europe and didn't

I picked up a vinyl copy of "I'm Not There" tonight after seeing the movie last night. The soundtrack really stands out more now that I've seen the songs in the context of the film. Goin To Aculpoco is fantastic, as well as Pressing On.

I saw them open for Wilco as well. I went out and bought the Ryko versions of the cds, but eventually traded them in. I bought the Matador version of Horrible Truth tonight and thought the mastering and mixing were fantastic. I haven't had a chance to watch the dvd all the way through yet though. I saw they're playing the black cat in July (on a sunday). I might have to try to catch this show.

I've heard from people in the past who didn't really like Nissan, but they didn't say why. I can tell you what I didn't like about it, the parking situation sucked wet grass! When people were leaving, there was no supervision, cars were going every which way. We sat in the very last parking lot for over an hour. But the show itself rocked! Yes, we were drenched and tired (after walking back all the way to lot F, but enjoyed the show.) btw-Isadorah (Hi!) the show at RFK was the Tibetan Freedom show in 1998. There was a major lightning storm and a girl was struck by lightning while talki
