  1. Oh wow, is that the store in Carytown? As sad as Plan 9's downslide has been, it just keeps hanging on. I intentionally stop at the one in C'ville when I'm in town.
  2. Revolution-the Beatles A-Punk-Vampire Weekend Where the Streets Have No Name-U2 No Way-Pearl Jam Paper Airplanes-MIA Dirt Off Your Shoulder-Jay-Z Dare-Gorillaz I Want It All-Queen I Believe-R.E.M.
  3. Still a big fan of 'Rings Around the World'. You could definitely hear the Beach Boys in that title song. I also really dig 'A Touch Sensitive' I could see that song in some thriller movie. For those who may not know it, Gruff features on Superfast Jellyfish from Gorillaz.
  4. "yeah! Hootie! Dude, do you have the weed from your buddy? Nah man, we didn't have enough money after getting the kegger. (girls walk by at this point; one of the guys nods at the girls while the other two oggle the girls, who completely ignore the guys) wassup? (the guys try to compensate for the fact they are ignored by changing subjects) So bro, you going to the Biscuits show next month? Nah man, I spent the last of my money on phish tickets. So just ask your folks for some cash. Won't do, they're still paying on that window I busted in my apartment last semester. You told them it wa
  5. Animals In Translation by Temple Grandin & The Unreleased Beatles by Richie Utenberger
  6. I also fell under Ms. Deschanel's spell after seeing Almost Famous. I do think she has a nice singing voice, but there hasn't been much range in her style. That being said, I couldn't see her fronting a heavy metal band.
  7. I believe that Terror Twilight is supposed to get a deluxe reissue sometime this year from what I've heard from a reliable source. I hope this is true. Maybe we can get a disc with the Brixton Academy show from that final tour.
  8. The songs that I have heard from this album remind me of '90's R.E.M. I was honestly underwhelmed by Accelerate and enjoyed the versions from that album that appeared on Live At The Olympia, although Accelerate was still miles ahead better than Around The Sun. I wouldn't mind seeing them again on tour as it's been 12 years since I saw them last.
  9. Oh man, I know I'll leave something off that I intend to put on here The Strokes-This Is It Beatles-Revolver R.E.M.-Reckoning Led Zeppelin-II, IV Grateful Dead-Skull & Roses Wilco-A Ghost Is Born Rolling Stones-Hot Rocks (yes, I know it's technically a compilation, but its still got classic songs from start to finish) Radiohead-The Bends Pearl Jam-Yield Avett Brothers-Mignonette
  10. Hmm, I wonder if Jim Derogatis wrote this article.
  11. I believe that is supposed to be an allusion to the bob dylan press conferences from around the time of Blonde On Blonde/English tour. From what I remember, he said something similar to what it says in the commercial. But you're right, it's a terrible commercial.
  12. I'd say that any group who can make that song 'Telephone' less annoying than the original has my vote.
  13. I bought that set last year mostly because I'm a beatles nut. I've read multiple times that the mono albums were the ones that the Beatles really wanted people to hear. Indeed there are variations in some of the versions of songs; however I'm still debating on whether I want to spring for the stereo versions on itunes.
  14. Mandy Moore was on Jimmy Kimmel a couple of weeks and she was talking about Ryan's obsession with metal, it was actually funny.
  15. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Yield was the album that finally convinced me Pearl Jam was a band was worth listening to. That is an album I wish I had on vinyl, but I would wear it out from playing it over and over again.
  16. Smog (Chicago Auditorium; 9/20/03) is another addition. I actually saw them earlier that summer in a tiny defunct club in Charlottesville, VA called Tokyo Rose. They looked swallowed up at the Auditorium. Favorite opening group was Preston School of Industry; least favorite was Neil Micheal Hagerty-that was about fifty minutes of my life that I'll never get back I enjoyed Mission of Burma, but I remember that show being louder than most shows I've seen. I was somewhat sorry I missed Sonic Youth, but I did see them open for Pearl Jam a few years earlier.
  17. When the anthology box set came out, there was a single disc collection that came out called wonsaponatime, which i still have. There was a version of "i'm losing you" that lennon recorded with cheap trick. It was an awesome rocking version. Jack Douglas mentioned that cheap trick session for double fantasy in an interview I heard recently. He said that John was happy about the session and enjoyed it, but the rock direction for double fantasy wasn't what he was looking for, so it was abandoned. How many songs from double fantasy were recorded with cheap trick, I have no idea, but I believ
  18. I had heard the story of Patti Smtih getting the song 'Because The Night' several years ago but It was nice to hear and see her perspective on the song during this documentary.
  19. I wonder if Rich Whitey was there?
  20. I don't know, I was tempted several times yesterday to turn the channel on the LSU-UT game. Les Miles is fortunate that LSU is still unbeaten, because if LSU were pulling the shenangians they have been pulling this season and losing, he would have been gone by now, especially for continuing to put Jordan Jefferson in as quarterback. What's the definition of insanity? Continuing to do the same thing each time with expectations of different results. Honestly, since Patrick Peterson is being considered for offense, put him in as quarterback. He can't be any worse than Jefferson or Lee.
  21. I'd like to see Wilco and Radiohead tour together. After members of the groups collaborated on 7 Worlds Collide, this may be possible. Maybe not likely, but still possible. Both bands really need to challenge themselves again. I think that touring together could possibly bring out the competitive spirit in each band's respective leaders and lead to more inspired songwriting. Each band's last couple of albums have been good, but not great. It would be great to see these groups tour together, possibly even play together in such a tour.
  22. I'm bummed that I missed this; I did catch part of Norah Jones' set. I must say that I came away with more respect for Norah's talent as a musician.
