I've given up on Rolling Stone being a relevant magazine for music a while back. Although their prices a bit high, Uncut does it for me. Rolling Stone is very much the print equivalent of MTV these days.

Love me some Handsome Molly. I don't know if there is a studio version that Dylan did, but the Gaslight performance is pretty sublime!

That one is a great one. Much better than the Live album from a year or so before.

Your musical Road to Damascus moment

I discovered this and the Beatles on 8-track that my dad had. I listened to those two eight tracks over and over. I can't stand the Stones beyond the 70's, but their London years records are superb. got turned onto Eagles with 'One Of These Nights' on vinyl. The intro to the title track just blew me away, with the vinyl going around. It lent to the spooky vibe of the song. With Radiohead, it was The Bends that got me intrigued. Every song on there was just superb. I listened to that album over and over. R.E.M. got me intrigued with a Mike Mills tune, 'Texarkana' from Out Of Time -
Yes indeed! Seeing them open for Mumford & Sons, then getting to watch Mumford & Sons was quite a treat. Marcus Mumford came out and sang with them on 'When My Time Comes'. They're touring with Dylan now.

Etree Mobile is an excellent app for the iPhone that can be downloaded and used to stream shows from Archive.org. Archivist is another app that can be used to do the same and actually scans your itunes library but freezes up much too often.

That's one of many songs I requested for Solid Sound. A great hidden gem. I agree that it is a song made for Mavis. At least in its initial Wilco form, I could see it being played at weddings.

I'm looking forward to the reissue of Out Of Time. I would imagine that would have demos as there was no tour for Out Of Time. I'm also looking forward to the New Adventures In Hi-Fi reissue. Now that one would benefit from a live bonus disc, perhaps the Road Movie soundtrack.

Down By The River-Neil Young. I'm actually surprised no one has suggested it yet.

unless it's the Joy Division version I'm already calling for 'Let's Hear It For Rock & Roll!'

Weird/obscure/strange covers you would like to see Wilco perform?
jimtweedy1977 replied to auburn's topic in Just A Fan
I think I mentioned this in a similar post a while back, but I can see Wilco pulling off 'Waterloo Sunset' by the Kinks very nicely I can't remember who did the original, but Camper Van Beethoven often did 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men' fits into the obscure category. -
Hey folks, I'll be going to Solid Sound this year. I'm looking to share a room with folks during my time there. If you would be open to splitting the cost of a room with me, I would be most appreciative. Feel free to pm me here if you are interested or open to sharing room space with me.

It took me a long time to get into their music, and when I finally did, it was a gradual process. When I finally got hooked, I'm not quite sure what hooked me, but I went in full force. I totally get the notion of how they're not for everybody, though.

After more than a month of inactivity, I decided to reboot the site. With a clarity as bright as a lens flare and a dramatic realization of one lost on an island, I decided to refocus my blog to focus directly on the Wilco show review archive. If you go to the old site, you won't find it anymore. This one is a little more streamlined. I'm also making a proposal to folks on this message board. Actually, I'm making a request. I would like to create a community e-book, it could be published later in physical form, but it might be handier for those who have nooks, kindles, ibooks, whatever.

Is Marr still with Modest Mouse or was that just a temporary thing?

well, beyond trading cds (do folks still do that? i used to do a lot of show trading years ago) many of these shows are not available on e-tree as far as I know. you might be able to find a subpar audience recording on live music archive, if you're lucky. So, i'd probably get a hold of these as often as I could. i got the first show in last year's set, mostly because of the connection to Richmond and the fact that it was a recording from the year of my birth. Not to mention, that spring run has produced some quality shows. I wasn't fast enough to snatch up the subsequent volumes, but I wo

It's a nice review. While there are some very nice bits in this show, especially that reworked version of 'Ramble On', it felt like something was missing. After going back and watching the Led Zeppelin DVD from 2003, the reunion show felt, well, too rehearsed. The band played with passion, but not with the intensity of their earlier years. I don't know if this is because they had such a short amount of time to prepare, Robert's hesitance to have anything to do with a Led Zeppelin reunion, it just was missing some spontaneous moments. For being a celebration of their boss, they seemed like

Back in the summer, I attempted to introduce a blog based upon Wilco shows called City Maps & Handclaps. Due to distractions and some issues with the blog, that blog is no more. I hope to begin that project in book form. However, this blog will feature some music in the future, including some Wilco "mix tapes". Kidsmoke, could you pin this site for others to see under the just a fan section? Thanks. http://trailedbytwentyhounds.blog.com
