  1. I've listened to the first 5 tracks or so. Very good! Maybe better than Crazy Rhythms.
  2. I've lived in Iowa since the age of 6. We're pretty well situated! Also, I've heard of nor'easters. I do have a colleague and good friend who's a big Wilco fan. I've encouraged him to check in here. He's not much for online socialization. Loser.
  3. It went great! Kind of an interesting situation. I've taught for 25 years at a junior high in the district I grew up in. I've loved nearly every minute of it. There have been a few changes that I haven't liked recently. When I saw the posting for a position at the high school, I was surprised to feel a need to go for it. The interview went GREAT! My main concern is that I have fairly limited certification. After I earned my degree and certification, the state added an "all social studies" certification. Without that, my ability to teach their openings may be limited. They're hiring two posit
  4. I guess I need to expand beyond Crazy Rhythms.
  5. Today I had my first real job interview in well over a decade.
  6. For a good price picking up cable service and a streaming service. Honestly, we haven't used much of Hulu's streaming service, a bit is all.
  7. The only thing I miss is Comedy Central, and not really that. I only watched the Daily Show, and only when they have guests I'm interested in since Trevor Noah took over. I can catch most of that online. Hulu's been working out great though their interface is not the best. We played around with Playstation Vue, but decided to give Hulu a go to get their stuff as well as the cable channels.
  8. One of the benefits of switching from Directv to Hulu + Live TV is more regional sports access. I now get Fox Sports North and, therefore, most of the Twins games!
  9. That's beautiful, but how's this for cognitive dissonance? As I'm watching a video clearly recorded by someone using their phone, I'm thinking, "Look at all the dicks, put your phones down and enjoy the moment!"
  10. A bit of research leads me to believe this was shortly after Isbell left. Is this accurate?
  11. I saw Iggy at Metro in 1988. During a stop at Letterman's on that tour, he described playing small clubs as, "You get your soul fried." That happened to me that night, for sure. An incredible road trip and bonding experience for my 2 closest high school friends the summer after we graduated. The 3 of us got together just last month. Saw him twice again 2 years later. At The Riviera and then the Vogue Theater in Louisville. Definitely the most electric performer I have ever seen! Iggy and the Stooges certainly enriched my life.
  12. This is a band that I haven't listened to nearly enough.
  13. Weird Al with my 12 year old son.
  14. Finally started Breaking Bad. About 5-6 episodes in. About FUCKING time!
  15. Lead-off homer for the Cubs and someone's getting wet. https://twitter.com/Michael_Cerami/status/979396403024756736
  16. 538 weighs in https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2018-mlb-predictions/
  17. Many rural Iowans -- and throughout the country -- will come to regret their vote for Trump with agricultural products are slapped with Chinese tariffs.
  18. Having recently listened to the Slow Burn podcast about Watergate has given me a bit of historical context around that and some new lenses to view our current situation. My previous view of Watergate is that Republicans like Howard Baker were unbiased and would let the truth lead them where it would throughout most of the Watergate crisis. This podcast made it clear that most Republicans were holding water for Nixon until the tapes were released. Hopefully, if Mueller or someone else finds a smoking gun (in my mind, there's been something of a smoking armory, if not on collusion on massive con
  19. The cash registers at my local Quik Trip were playing the opening electronic sounds from Art of Almost.
