Way to send a recovering alcoholic into a bar. Brilliant.

Very cool!

Pretty sure they haven't. They're playing a gig at St Paul's minor league park in September, but other than that I think they'v all have been / will be (so far) festivals.

Albums that Don't Hold Up for You

The song Prairie Wind is pretty bad, but I love "When God Made Me" and some of the others. -
Albums that Don't Hold Up for You

My favorite LP. Still listen to it all the time. I think the production holds up. The anti-Husker album. Lush, layered, delicate. I'm sure there are albums that I used to love, but don't anymore. I can't think of any right now. -
This is about the only sentence with which I take issue. You don't have to use a weapon to use it. Their existence (especially nukes) is deterrence. Also, Reagan wasn't afraid of raising taxes, but I believe the overall tax burden as percentage of GDP went down significantly under Reagan.

How many strong UT songs have been abandoned in a band setting?

IIRC, Wilco recorded Not for the Season before Loose Fur recorded Laminated Cat, so even though it's not on a proper LP, it is a Wilco song. I really don't see the point in putting together a band and recording a solo album then playing these songs with Wilco. So I'll take that bet.

We have a vested interest in protecting Europe, mostly for economic reasons. While Europeans have gone very pacifistic, I think they (esp. Germany) will flex their muscles if they feel Russia's threat growing. If that happens, we should be there to back them up, but KevinG is right, the last two wars have rightfully burned us out on the idea. I think Hixter's point about fracking and drilling has little to do with paying for a potential war and more with giving Europe another source for their energy needs so they're not so dependent on Russia. Right now, I don't think we should overplay

The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
uncool2pillow replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
I initially thought I liked it, but haven't listened to it in a LONG time. I guess I liked the idea of a Louris/Olson Jayhawks LP more than the reality. -

Not nearly enough there for me to form an opinion.

My favorite so far. Great drums.

This is in 3/4 isn't it? I'd be surprised if he doesn't at least 1 waltz per release. Pretty common in traditional country music that's been a big influence on him.

I would suggest another reason he hasn't been more apologetic is that he did nothing wrong. It was great that Lucinda played a make-up gig that night. She's not from Chicago and probably doesn't play there nearly as often as Jeff does. I interpreted your tone from the use of the phrase "The only reason I can think of" as to suggest that if Mr. Tweedy doesn't announce a make-up show sometime soon that he has somehow slighted his fans. There were storms, the organizers of the event canceled it, not him. Tweedy will most certainly play again in the Chicago area whether something imminent or

Why on earth would he apologize?

The best team won. Well done, Deutschland!

From little Shenandoah, Iowa to the jazz clubs of NYC, he helped define the avant garde as part of Ornette Coleman's quartet on the Shape of Jazz to come. Several years ago he recorded a nice album of traditional American music called Rambling Boy that I thoroughly enjoy. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/entertainment/music/2014/07/12/charlie-haden/12567309/?sf28452070=1

And Iggy lives. RIP to the producer of The Replacements' Tim as well.

We'll done!

I do like this better than Summer Noon though.
