this is weird to me since he produced Blue as well. usually when an album is a success they try to recreate it.

wow, Cobwebs sounds cool. "video I made myself using my 06 i movie and my 3 pixel digital eplh camera" i wonder how much that equipment and program cost. that looks pretty cool actually - how he layered various things. -
i'm pleased with Do It! i think it will be my second favorite album of their's after Internal Wrangler. (and they actually included lyrics in the booklet this time!)

ah, i didn't know it had his own unreleased songs on there. i just looked briefly but it looked like he was putting his lyrics to his new songs up there. unless i read it wrong, it seemed to say he had written more solo material and cardinals material. hopefully he doesn't totally take it down and i can look through it. -

no need to apologize. are any of the videos worth watching? -

when/where was this posted? i'm really shocked at his country statement. maybe he means what they erroneaously call country that is on 'country' radio stations now. surely he likes Johnny Cash and Buck Owens. he produced a Willie Nelson record. he covers I Still Miss Someone. it's all over his records, especially Jacksonville. -
yeah. i missed out on W.a.s.t.e by a few minutes. i got up throughout the night and checked. finally i went to work a little later. i get on at work and it had already been going on. i got to click on the ticket link several times but then it would always go blank. the ironic thing is, had i not cared at all and just down things normal i probably would have gotten Pit tics. then i tried ticketmaster and i click on tics immediately and then was on hold for a long time and of course they were gone by the time it went through.
-
ah, so you had different people looking for tickets at certain shows or you literally bought all 4 sets? i wouldn't think you'd have enough time.
-
wow tics for 4 different shows? how did you pull that off?
-
i think it's funny how this board usually works. most users download the album early and talk about the album before release. then when i get it on the actual day all talk has pretty much subsided.
-
that's great. did anyone pick up the Joshua Tree deluxe edition? if so, were you pleased? that would be cool if they did like Talking Heads and made them dualdiscs with the videos of the era on there. (of course i'm still dumbfounded why the video for Once in a Lifetime was not on Remain in Light's dualdisc!)

i thought his bad stage antics were back in his early solo times. his recent interviews and fan interaction has all seemed very positive to me. has he done anything lately, or are people still holding something he did 5 years ago on him? -
it's completely random, so the only way to assure you getting the best seats is to stay up all night constantly refreshing the page. or if you're a computer tech, i read about some people who had some thing that would alert them when a webpage's content is changed by calling their cell phone. i have no idea how you do it, but apparently it worked.

*tears* still no tics and liars opening. *sigh*

that's the compilation i was referring to. those IRS reissues with bonus tracks are listed around $20 opposed to the normal ones which i think are under $10 on amazon. of course, i imagine decently priced used versions may be found via ebay or half.com since they came out back in 93 - buuuttt......if those bonus tracks are on DLO anyway than there seems to be no point to seek those out.
-
they said they were making a rock record during the Around the Sun interviews though. at that time they didn't know ATS would be received so poorly. i spent the afternoon listening to the Amazon clips of all the early REM albums in order. if i want to start getting the full albums should i go for the IRS reissues with the bonus tracks or should i just get the cheaper normal versions and buy that compilation (i forget the title)?

i meant "on sale" as in lower than sticker price, not that they carry the item. i'm glad i bought the special edition now. the booklet is really cool. the whole thing is in a normal clear dvd case and the booklet is thick and looks handsewn together or stitched. there is even a joke printed on the front "this booklet will fall apart" although it doesn't seem weak or anything. all the lyrics are in there with artwork and picturess and quotes i guess that inspired Stipe for the lyrics. not colorful like most REM things, this stays with the black and white of the cover art. first listen throu

yes, we have Radiohead to thank for that. they did the same thing with My Iron Lung, REM liked the idea and put it in practice. i think that's the story. i can't get into all of Hi Fi. i think it's that "i look good in a glasspack" or whatever line. that is the worst. I've been reacquainting myself with Around the Sun. try this people: listen straight through and cut out tracks 3, 5 and 6. it makes it a very solid 10 track, 42/43 minute album. fyi, i just bought the DVD/CD Accelerate at Target for $17.99. as far as i know they're the only ones offering this version on sale for the first

New Ryan Adams EP & more info on boxset...
bigideas replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Someone Else's Song
yeah, it makes no sense. they spent the money on the various sessions and they're just collecting dust. the only cost would be manufacturing them. i doubt hardly any promotion would need to be done since just about every music magazine would love a RA interview every time he releases something. remember, in 2006, RA didn't release a single thing. he released 3 albums in 2005 (when i really got into him) and then a year and a half past before another release. then just the ep. well, there was all that 'joke' stuff on his website. -
after listening to Pig Lib some more i really really love it now, all tracks. i dig the self-titled pretty much too, but i think Discretion Grove may be my least favorite and the most boring of all songs on all four of his solo discs. according to wiki it was the first single. i remember him playing jenny on one of the late shows at the time. "In the Slow Century DVD, Malkmus is seen playing a rough version of "Discretion Grove" to an unenthusiastic Pavement. "Discretion Grove" was the album's first single." i got to agree with the rest of Pavement on that one. The Hook and Sheets are

how is the full length song? should it have made SBS or was it a wise choice to leave it off?
-
I got I'm Not Afraid and really like some of it, but I agree, it's way too long. Just recently when I ordered the Malkmus album, I got Summer Sun as well. do they have any albums that are just a consistent 35-45 mins?

he's just doing one concert? -
If you like Face the Truth then I think you like Pavement's Terror Twilight. to me FTT could come right after TT. I'm digging Real ET. A song or two wouldn't hurt from some editing down though. My first favorites were track 1 and Out of Reaches. Today I wanted to hear Gardenia and Elmo Delmo over and over. the poster from Matador was kinda smashed up. i also ordered the self-titled. it's melodies are a little more "obtuse Malkmus" so i think it's going to take longer like with Pig Lib. i think i like Face the Truth because the melodies are so strong and to the point and the one long song,

thanks. it looks like mp3 only. i guess Best Buy wasn't joking - i thought they just meant exclusive to physical stores, not online as well. found this page: http://www.bestbuy.com/olspage.jsp?id=pcmc...p;type=category
