Except for a few minor details (green ears from paint? really?), I loved the ending and thought it perfect. All along, this was a story about character arc and growth, not a cliche police procedural. And that is how it ended: with a true personal epiphany from a tortured soul. All the red herrings about yellow kings, five men, Maggie, black stars, antler crowns were not fully explained leaving it to the imagination of the audience to fill in the blanks. I have been liking Season 4 better than Season 3, so far.

A truly fantastic show with so much depth and thoughtfulness. My mind has been racing with all kinds of theories and tangents. Was Marty's daughter abused (doll setup, pictures, tiara throw)? Is the yellow king just a reference to drugs? or is there an actual person? If a big conspiracy, why leave antler girl out in open for 'regular' police/public to find? Why is there even a reference to an obscure literary work? Why didn't Rust recognize lawnmower man with his scars? Am I over-thinking a piece of (meta)fiction (i.e., LOST)? ... I saw them in a small-ish general admission type of place and I wish I had brought ear plugs. My ears were still ringing a day later. Very loud. (I know, I know. I am starting to sound like a geezer: you darn kids with your loud rock and/or roll music! get off my lawn!).

Just finished Season 2 and ... wow... very good show. The first episode was shocking, but the rest was very enjoyable. Recommended.
