I read the article the other day at my local Barnes and Noble, and then bought it because the article was great. There also is a good article on Greg Sauinner of Deerhoof too.

I know that the bands scheduled to play are there to draw attention, but I am sort of looking at it as a musical standpoint. Honestly, most of these bands are not good. I know that it is just my opinion on the subject, but bands that are " are all still extremely talented, entertaining performers who are simply past the peaks of their careers. They are still popular, and they still entertain tons of people," as Nerdy McPosterson put it, are boring because that's just it. They are living in nostalgia, and not daring to shed their image. I could go on, but that's a whole another topic. Mo

First off, I am 18, and there are a million more better bands (nowadays bands) that could be playing this thing, then half of these bands. Let's names name some whiney bands that are playing at these festivals: AFI, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park (yes they are whiney), and Taking Back Sunday the next list is horrible horrible bands/artists: David Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, James Blunt, John Mayer, Keith Urban, and Snow Patrol. Bands/artists that have jumped the shark: Bon Jovi, Chris Cornell, Duran Duran, Genesis, Madonna, Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Roger Waters, Snoop Dog, T

Most of these bands suck, and are only there to grab the attention of people since they are apart of the big mainstream.

I like the second poster's quote because too many people feel they need people to tell them what to do or how to do it. How about this for a change, do it yourself, and lead the way. I do not mean to sound mean, but one should not rely themselves on say Jeff Tweedy to lead the way (which he wouldn't since I believe he does not like writing political songs). In short, let Jeff be who he wants to be, and you be the change you want to see rather than hoping for someone else to cause the change because it won't happen. Side note: I do think nowadays we are in bad times (not just in the U.S.) b

I'll ditto the first post above. Moreover, it's one of my favorite Wilco albums; however, I do love them all.

There's Reckless records on I think 26 E Madison. I live in the suburbs, and was just there the other day. It's pretty good, but their vinyl is nothing to brag about. But they do have a good amount of CDs. However, there are two other locations besides that one in Chicago, and I heard the other two are better in stock. So just check out their website. See you at Pitchfork.

Well, one that has occured already is Bob Dylan and The Band. For example, I believe their 1974 tour had Dylan's songs and The Band's songs mixed together. However, I am unsure if that fitted your def. But on a side note: I agree with you that Dylan's voice is good. I get shit for that statement from anyone, but I think he brings strong emotion into his lyrics via his voice. However, more so in the past than nowadays.

Talk about obession.

All I know is that he went to New York in (I think) September, and then came back to Chicago, and has been reading since.

I am really starting to hate most critics because most have no idea what the fuck is going on. -
I saw them last night and they were fantastic. They played for about an 1 hr 40 mins with two encores, and I was front row center. I did not write a setlist down, but most of their songs were from "It's All Around You" and "Standards." But their last two songs from the second encore I do remember because they were the last two. They were "A Simple Way To Go Faster Than Light That Never Works" and "I Set My Face To The Hillside" from "TNT." In short, it was a great show. David Drinnell (I think I spelled his last name wrong) opened the night off with a beautiful atmospheric solo guitar perfor

Wilco broadcasted live via their website on the date, and the recording is through their soundboard, which is why it sounds good. I believe you can still find the broadcast via their roadcase on their website.

I am going with a friend's dad. Anyone else? If so, what time do the doors open?

Great point. While I do sometimes have reservations for certain songs to be played, I just love seeing Wilco, and for that I am very satisfied. Besides it's his band and his life, not ours.

Some of that stuff is in Kot's book such as Tweedy liking William H. Gass a lot ("In The Heart Of The Heart Of The Country and "Omensetter's Luck"), John Fante ("Ask The Dust"), and of course Henry Miller ("Tropic of Cancer" and "Stand Still Like The Hummingbird.") On a side note: an english teacher I once had said Gass's "Being Blue" was also fantastic.

You know I love it that I turn 18 because know I have no trouble to get into 18+ shows. But then it's like shit, there are still a lot of 21+ shows of bands or artists I want to see. I hate it!

Please don't make questions such as "Why are you so awesome," or "Oh my god, I'm just like in love with you and I think your the greatest thing since slice bread?" It's pretty cool idea to come up with questions to ask him, but in my opinion, I would just let the guy be. He's just the same as you and me, and that is why I enjoy his music a lot. Since on a personal level I can connect to the music and the lyrics.

He's amazing on the keys, guitar, and organ.

I'm 18. What's the age limit?

Sounds great: big thanks for the info. I would try and go on July 4, but I have family shit, but I will try to catch him this summer.

because they have a new one out.

Excuse me for my ignorance, but who actually is Von Freeman. I am interested in knowing because I am curious person when it comes to music. Short note, I did read the article about Fred Anderson in the tribune (not to far back-I think?).

Predictions for Wilco's Tonight Show appearance?
WaronWar replied to unposed_question's topic in Just A Fan
I think it's a little early to be guessing since it is August 30, but I think the tine constrains for a late night host performance is usually around four minutes.
