Wilco on the cover of Rolling Stone?
Three dollars and 63 cents replied to Dude's topic in Just A Fan
I don't think Nels will fit on the cover since they changed to the smaller format. I bought RS for the first time in years a few months back when U2 was on the cover, and I was shocked by how much the content went downhill since I let my subscription lapse four or five years ago. Part of me would like to see Wilco get the attention we all know they deserve, and part of me is already thinking about the kind of people an RS cover may end up bringing to shows. We all know the type--people who go to shows to be seen more than to actually see and hear the performance and who spend most of the sho -
The latest Ryan Adams thread
Three dollars and 63 cents replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
There are maybe three or four songs on Cardinology that I really like, but on the whole, it feels like a throwaway album to me. With RA, it always comes down to quality over quantity for me. If he learned to edit himself a little better, he could've put out a few really solid albums in the last few years instead of a handful of lackluster ones. -

What happened to Wilco's edge?

I hear the Edge joined U2. -
Maybe they'll be having a birthday party for the camel?

Incredible Germany? Maybe you should think about changing your screen name to badwilcofan There may be a bit of a Beatles influence in You Never Know and in a few spots on No Line On the Horizon, but I really think you're stretching it. I guess if you try hard enough, you can hear anything in a song that you want to, but I highly doubt Wilco, U2, and Radiohead all knocked off the Beatles

We should all put our VC names on the backs of our shirts. Can I have everybody's extra letters? -

The first time I saw a picture of you, I was disappointed to find out you don't have a big badass Mike Watt beard.

They've added a second show at the 9:30 Club on July 7 and a show in Spokane on July 25. Also, has anybody else read about the deluxe box set they're releasing for The Eternal in Japan? I don't usually cough up a lot for deluxe editions, but this one looks pretty cool: -

Hmmm...it seems they've completely severed ties with MusicToday.

A second Chicago date has been added for June 27, and a Toronto date at Massey Hall has been added for June 30. I've only streamed the album once so far, but it knocked me on my ass. I can't wait for it to come out. It might be my favorite of the year so far. -
Awesome!

Pitchfork Media's reaction to the new record

The ridiculous number of people who feel like they need somebody else to tell them how they should think about pretty much anything they encounter in our culture. It seems like so many people are afraid to think for themselves these days, and I for one find that pretty sad. -

http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=39747 I hadn't heard about that date on the 14th, though. Nels and Carla rarely play together anymore, so these shows will be a real treat. I can honestly say the Scarnella show I saw last summer in Montreal was probably the very best show I've ever seen. -

There was a similar package for Tanglewood last summer. I was going to book a room through them and a travel agent called me, but I never called back because some friends offered to let me stay with them. The show isn't for another two months. Keep an eye on your credit card statement, and give them at least a few more weeks. Chances are they're still finalizing plans or waiting to see how many people are interested before they contact you. I think you're freaking out a little prematurely. -
