  1. I wish I could've made it to the Lancaster show. I grew up in Lebanon and my parents still live there, so I've been to a few shows at the Chameleon and remember how tiny it is. I especially wanted to see Watt. He's playing in New York and Philly this weekend, too, but I need to get as much as my final grading done so I can go see Nels in New York Sunday night.
  2. I think it's hard for anybody who's seen the Heavy Metal Drummer/Jeff puking scene of IATTBYH to not think Jay is an ass. But whether he's an ass or not, if he's owed money for his work with Wilco, he has as much a right to it as anyone else in the band does. Wilco has been in the spotlight more lately, and the timing of his lawsuit does seem opportunistic and it doesn't really make sense why he's suing Jeff and not the label or Sam Jones, but I'm sure there's a lot we don't know. Maybe his upcoming surgery made him realize how badly he does need this money, even if he's got to fight for it.
  3. We have a lot of handsome orange kitties around here
  4. Paul, are you going to Nels's show at the Stone next weekend? I'm pretty sure I'm coming down for it.
  5. I'm planning to head down to NYC to see him at the Stone next weekend (if I don't completely lose my mind and decide to go see him and Carla play in LA the following week ). I saw with Norton Wisdom last fall, but I've never seen him completely solo. I'm interested to see/hear how much he'll play from Coward, especially since I imagine it would be difficult for him to play a lot of it unless he programmed loops ahead of time. That thing he yells and sings into is a Mega Mouth. If I remember right, it's actually a toy. They used to be all over the place in the 80s and 90s, but they're not a
  6. "I also like to sleep" Thanks for posting this, nudie.
  7. I think this thread needs to be renamed Wilco (The Speculative Bickering).
  8. I got Just A Kid there without having to buy the rest of the Spongebob soundtrack.
  9. Is anybody else having problems with the presale? I'm trying to get a ticket for Philadelphia, and the link for that isn't showing anything about the presale, just when the general sale starts. Never mind. FYI: the Philly presale is through Ticketmaster, even though the link takes you to Live Nation. I got my ticket
  10. Please, tell us how you really feel. Nels is from L.A. That's probably all it comes down to. There are plenty of places they're not playing this time around (once again I have to travel 4 + hours, even though I know it will be worth it), but there's no doubt they'll be back for another round of touring soon.
  11. It's official: AM BT ST YHF AGIB SBS W(TA)
  12. I'm apparently in the minority since I'm not in love with Rather Ripped. It was my first SY album, and there are a lot of songs on it I like, but it doesn't click for me the way that Sonic Nurse does. I have an iTunes gift card to use up, so I think I'll use it to buy Murray Street, since I've been meaning to.
  13. I'm going to Wilmington (with kimcatch and poppydawn ) and Lewiston, and I haven't completely ruled out Portland yet, either, even though that will be a whole lot of driving in a short time.
  14. You guys are going? Just when I said I really wasn't going to go...
  15. I had no problem pulling up one just now on Ticketmaster. Follow the link on Wilcoworld.
  16. I just preordered the album. I'm looking forward to giving it a first listen at work tomorrow.
  17. Nels and Carla will be playing two shows with Mikael and Pronto and one show with clowns (well, sort of) in a few weeks: Friday, 5/15: opening for Pronto at a benefit for the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation, 7 p.m., at the Ojai Valley Women
  18. Oops. I meant to include the cover. This one: I'm about 75 pages into it, and so far I've been learning a lot.
  19. I wasn't even through the first chapter and I thought, "Kim has to read this!" I've been reading a lot lately, but nothing that's really wowed me. Steve Almond's Candyfreak was entertaining, but since then, it's been sort of ho-hum books by Jancee Dunn, Edwidge Danticat (which was surprising), and Hayden Carruth. I'm hoping this John Coltrane book that I'm reading now will turn things around. If not, I know Salinger's Nine Stories will.
  20. Yeah, I'm surprised by there not being a show anywhere in New England. I probably would've gone for it, since it would be an easier trip for me than DC or Richmond.
