  1. Radio Cure was fabulous. It's hard to pick a favorite off YHF, but that's one I've been listening to a lot lately. Nice transition into Leave Me Like You Found Me, too. I haven't heard this one live yet.
  2. I get to be 13 rows away from Nels on Saturday
  3. I'm getting so excited for this weekend already. I've got a pretty good seat, and I can't wait to finally get the chance to see the band from up close after being way back in the grass at the Pines the last two summers. Does anyone know what the best streets around the theatre are for parking? I've heard the neighborhood isn't that great, and since I'm planning to stick around after the show to try to talk to the band, I don't really want to be walking back to my car down some sketchy side street that late. I'm planning to come down around 4 or 5. I'd be interested in meeting up with folk
  4. Seeing those pictures makes me so glad I'm going to a show with assigned seats. The weather's not supposed to be that cold on Saturday in Philly, but it's still not the time of year when I'd enjoy being in line all day.
  5. Every time I think he can't possibly amaze me in a new way, he does. That was mind boggling!
  6. Everyone should show up Wednesday in red polyester pants.
  7. My God, what a setlist. And we still have four nights to go
  8. Rumor has it that awesome jazz guitarist Nels Cline is coming all the way from California for these shows. Wouldn't that be something!
  9. I get Wilco next weekend. This weekend I get to listen to Wilco while I grade a whole stack of mediocre freshman essays...
  10. YHF is pretty postmodern. So is A Ghost Is Born, you could argue. I just got done teaching and have turned that part of my brain off for the day, but I'll have to check out the article later. I've thought a few times about writing a critical article of some sort about Wilco, but I'm always afraid of overintellectualizing something I love.
  11. I'm an English teacher, so I can say this with certainty: every time someone misuses an apostrophe, a kitten dies. Please, remember the kittens!
  12. Ratdog's spring tour is coming through my neck of the woods. I think I'll go check them out. It's been six or seven years since I've seen them.
  13. A few of my most-watched recently are: The Geraldine Fibbers--Lilybelle (live) And I watch this every time I wonder if I've made the right decision by becoming a teacher: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpog1_NFd2Q
  14. It's great to see some other Yuengling fans, too. I grew up about an hour from where it's brewed. I brought my friend a case of it last summer when I went up to Northampton for the show at the Pines. We were hanging out after the show waiting for the parking area to clear out and having a few, and some guy came up and wanted to trade a great IPA for a Yuengling. He was so excited to see it, since they don't sell it up there. It cracked me up, because Yuengling has always been my go-to cheap beer.
  15. I'm planning to. I still haven't figured out any of my other plans for the trip, but I figure if I'm going to drive all the way down there, I might as well try to meet them while I'm there.
  16. I'd be thrilled for NFTS to get played that night, too. I'm also pulling for Ashes of American Flags and Too Far Apart.
  17. Nice of them to call Jeff "Jeff Tweety" in one of their captions They looked great all spiffed up. Nels looks like he might've stolen that tie from a fourth grader, though.
  18. ^ agreed about Hate It Here. I sure do love that song.
  19. I didn't expect them to win, but I'd be less disappointed if Bruce Springsteen had won instead.
  20. I just turned it on...just in time to see Tina Turner in a scary silver jumpsuit
  21. Definitely take the earplugs with you--it will be better to have them and not need them than to realize you need them and not have them. That's what I usually do, and I've been grateful for them the few times I've needed them. I have a feeling you might not need them, though. Considering they're playing mostly smaller venues on this tour, I don't think they're going to have the sound cranked to top volume. In fact, I've never been to a Wilco show I thought was too loud, but this will be my first time seeing them inside (the night before you do). I would also suggest going to see a doctor. He
