Why shouldn't $15 be discussed for the minimum wage. As with all negotiations you have to start higher than you want to end up. But since there is no actual collective bargaining going on here, the amount is "pointless". Someday a real organizing campaign that hurts everyone for awhile until something more just happens (such as the Montgomery bus boycott) will need to occur. This will have to include real unionization by the workers and a real boycott by consumers before any justice or fairness results. LouieB

I listened to the first disk yesterday. I have the original material anyway. The demos and early concert material is good enough as extras. you can't tell the demos have Jeff and Jay on them. LouieB

Record Store Day: Black Friday 2013 Edition

After deciding not to participate I did in fact buy something, a bunch of Harry Nilsson "rarities" on LP. Gotta keep the local record stores afloat. LouieB -

Did the Sarah Lee Guthrie album come out? This is pretty cool. LouieB -
I am sure they believe in their kids school. That isn't the issue now is it? Of course. I assume the Tweedy's can afford the tuition. Strange how a simple question gets turned into something tawdry in a hurry here. To be sure I am not comfortable with some of the implications being tossed around here. LouieB

Jeez people. Let's relax. First off, Spenser has done a lot of growing up in public due to being in a band. Secondly the benefit we are invited to is for the Tweedy kids school's operating funds. So while I agree that the kids lives should be private, they are certainly public to an extent. So going from there, if Sam was Bar Mitzvahed then he doesn't have too many more years until he goes to high school. All I did was make an idle and obvious observation. LouieB

Actors in the least amount of crappy movies
LouieB replied to Atticus's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Wow, I was just going to say that. He is always good and the movies he was in were always good too. Unlike Robert DeNiro who is a great actor and has been in some crap the last couple decades. LouieB -
Dr. Bronners is the ultimate hippie soap, it smells bad, is very very strong, and has crazy polemical writing to read in the shower or bath. Great stuff. LouieB

And let's not forget the greatest live cover version of LARS which has to be Jimi Hendrix live at Monterrey. LouieB

Yes, his run with Herzog is great. I saw some rather dreadful cowboy flick he was in onetime. I would like to say John Malkovich, but he has been in a few stinkers. LouieB -
Cynical on who's part? Mine or the record company's. The video of a version of LARS I always liked was the Stones version. LouieB

I dunno. Before he became famous (meaning working with Herzog)he was in some real potboilers. Wikipedia says he was in 130 movies. I doubt anyone here has seen them all. LouieB -
Uncle Tupelo is the most underrated band in rock history

The Kinks are neither over nor under rated. They are rated just right. LouieB -
Listening to Radiohead makes you creepy? They are from the 80s. Not exactly a new group. LouieB

I have it. It's a good one. I think it is funny that on the cover Dylan is sort of hiding behind the rest of the band. Vinyl copies are not that hard to find. LouieB

I guess I had not realized that last year was Onward Neighborhood House. In the old days (when I still went) it was going to a different place. LouieB

It would be fun to see them, but Kind of like (in the words of Paul McCartney) reheating a soufflé. LouieB

So the money is going somewhere different this year. Interesting. LouieB
