  1. yeah, it was a pretty full house last night (and should be tonight). I can see the wisdom of limiting that.
  2. So, I heard that last night some folks were told "no" for #1; that balcony tickets are not allowed on the floor. Was anyone successful (or unsuccessful) in using a balcony ticket to get onto the floor? Thanks, Vince
  3. Tickets have been secured for both nights... thanks all and hope to see you in Atlanta.
  4. Thanks! Yes, I'll take 1 for night 1. Halfway home... Night 2 anyone?
  5. Does anyone know how seating at the Tabernacle in Atlanta works? If you have a reserved balcony seat, can you still go to the GA floor area? Are there chairs in the GA floor area? Thanks!!
  6. Yes, that would bring (and has brought) a smile to my face. Especially a great fit for a mellow crowd. Love that song. And thanks as always for the recaps.
  7. Blackstar is a really good record. I was fortunate enough to listen to it a couple times this weekend, before we all heard the bad news on Monday. Knowing what we know now about his health struggles, the record certainly takes on a new level of meaning and poignancy. But it's still a good record on its own. Musically it's a cool and weird blend of styles and textures and sounds and all things Bowie. Vocally, David's voice is still just amazing, and astonishing for someone 68 years old. I haven't had enough time with it to process all the lyrics, but Lazarus is definitely a great song lyr
  8. Making the life-changing switch from iPhones to Androids today. GAH!
  9. So, I was listening to some Lennon and Beatles the past couple days, being reminded of Lennon's murder anniversary. Listening to Revolver, and made it to "Tomorrow Never Knows" at the end. That song has to be one of the greatest Beatles songs ever, and one of the greatest overall songs period. It contains so many of the elements that made the Beatles what they were - psychedelia, studio effects & loops, Eastern influence, Ringo's fabulous drum skills, Paul's driving bass, John's voice, those LYRICS... all of it all in that one song. And the louder you have it turned up, the more of it yo
  10. It's for charity so I'm pretty sure it's a WIN. The regular fans got their shows from the auction so I'm thinking it's all good.
  11. I gave a first listen to "Blackstar" today (only the 10 minute title track, which is up on Spotify). Quite a bit going on in it. I like it. Sounds like what Thom Yorke hopes he can be at 68. Looking forward to the rest of the album in January.
  12. Quite a lot. Star Wars is still in rotation once a week. A live show once a week or so. On a long (15 hour) flight a couple weeks ago, I listened to most of the studio albums front to back but in reverse release order (SW -> TWL -> Wta, back to ST) which was a very interesting listen to hear the progression of the band in reverse. So, yeah, probably 10+ hours a month?
  13. Well put Donna. This did feel a little close to home. I had never been to the world trade center, but we've all been in these little 1000 capacity music venues seeing some band that nobody but us have ever heard of. Just like these people.
  14. Well done. you two are great! Vince
  15. somewhere on this board I recall reading about it. IIRC it was one of the samples in an older electronic organ. something like a 70's home version of a Hammond organ or some such. the kind that had a few pre-programmed "style" settings, and this was the one for cha-cha or Caribbean or something. sorry for the massive lack of precision... look around on the board, you'll find it I'm pretty sure.
  16. Guilty as charged on the drooling. In 5 years I'll have a YOU SATELLITE sign in the collection.
  17. Having Pat shred something is a good idea. I do love the duel on Hoodoo Voodoo between them. With all due respect, sir, this is not correct. While any BBN is indeed a good thing, and the acoustic version is sublime and powerful and amazing and inspiring... loudness = goodness on that particular tune. ... great seeing you there Friday.
  18. A wee recap... The room was huge - really wide, and the balcony was WAY back, but the sound was great and the crowd was a good one. Everyone on the main level stood the whole show that I could see. My first time hearing Star Wars which was a real treat. Jeff said nothing until after Magnetized, not even a hello. Before Box Full of Letters, he said that this song is from our first album. Big cheer from the crowd. Jeff gave a good laugh and said "Well you didn't like it THEN." After Box, someone down front shouted out "MORE OF THAT". Jeff replied "We don't have much more of that", to whic
  19. I got Pat. Apparently because I'm "theatrically energetic".
  20. Car - an old 64GB iPod which is now CarPod. Lots of saved Spotify offline music and most of my MP3s. Home - home theater/stereo with speakers in kitchen / living room, and the HT setup in the den, usually Spotify (via an older iPhone on a dock).
