What does your upcoming concert schedule look like?
theashtraysays replied to EstimtedProphet's topic in Someone Else's Song
well, yeah, but I'm a pretty big fan... and it's a pretty amazing show... so my "once in a lifetime" has kinda grown to thrice in a lifetime... -

I've been saying that same thing for Roger Waters. Going on Sunday for the 3rd time... -

well said, and I see the reality of that point. but don't you think that the protests and that overall voice contribute to that "cost" as well? I still think that the unrest, the dissatisfaction, the "voice" from a passionate & sincere group of people (whatever you want to call such an organized and sustained "movement") is recognized as a part of the cost and help push, or at least expedite, the outcome. Is it strictly a "rather than" as you said, or is there an "in addition to" working there?

Got my Rochester NY tix in the mail today from frontgate. And the gas bill was zero because we're on the budget plan and running a credit since the winter was so mild! A very good mail day....

Very happy with an Onkyo 608 I got two Christmases ago. around $400 I think. the ipod dock was annoyingly expensive ($70), but accessories often are. favorite feature: "Zone 2" which allows you to drive a separate pair of speakers with something other than what's driving the 5.1 video in the main room. I listen to music in the kitchen a lot even if others are watching tv or a movie with the surround in the family room. other brands have that too, most of them also call it "zone 2".

It's a gorgeous song. It's patient and intense at the same time. I think it's the most "naked" thing that Jeff did on that record. AGIB and SBS had more of that kind of thing too, but Reservations stands alone on YHF. The outro is musically one of the most beautiful things in the whole catalog.

Does anyone know much about this venue (Highland Bowl)? Looks like a hillside in a park with a concrete bandstand. GA / standing only? Kinda nondescript.

Hmmm... my 50th birthday. I was hoping they'd play somewhere on that day, maybe build a nice weekend trip around it, but I sure wasn't hoping for Rochester NY.

I would be very supportive of an Indy or Cinci show with Andrew Bird somewhere in that early July timeframe around the Geneva and Forecastle dates... yes I would.

Jeff Tweedy — 3/31/12, Chicago IL (Vic Theatre)
theashtraysays replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
Highlights for me were the songs that aren't already acoustic based. ALTWYS, Bull Black Nova (thank you Paul), and Hoodoo Voodoo were really great. So Much Wine... liked that a lot too. Definitely a fun crowd and such a great show. Bosco, glad you finally got your song. You looked pretty excited. I didn't think Jeff was overly into the whole audience question thing. I'm thinking it was Sue's idea, not Jeff's. But it did prompt some great stories (the bike wreck, and his & Sue's first "date") and banter (jean jackets and hair care). -
there's a cone called "comfy cone" that we found which is softer than the hard white plastic (as the name implies). It's less jarring when they run into stuff, and seems tolerable for sleeping. never tried it personally, but it works for our Cocker Spaniel.

Andrew Bird- Break it Yourself
theashtraysays replied to lost highway's topic in Someone Else's Song
that's a good way to put it. the new one is not radical, and I think that pretty much any of the tracks could get lost into any of the last couple records. but it's still very good music. -
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
theashtraysays replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
which song is that? I only have the cheap version without the extra's, but I wouldn't call any of the 11 on the non-deluxe record a rap song. -
Yeah, Anodyne is probably a good place to start. You'll recognize a few on there from Jeff's solo shows. It's pretty good all the way through. (null)
