From the local sportswriter page here in Lexington...

It's getting a lot smaller.

So far, so good. I have two 1's and two 3's going to the final four, all of whom are still in. In related news, WE GET A NEW COACH ! ! The headline today was "Not the Right Fit", which I think pretty much sums it up. Coaching Kentucky really is about more than just wins. Those help, too... but it's a lot of P/R as well.

What's a Wilco?

So, is this on the new daily commute?

34 degrees with a "wind chill" of 27 is NOT what I had in mind for the first Saturday of spring!

26 of 32 in round 1... so far, so good. Tied for first place. No, I didn't have Cleveland State over Wake. I did have AZ over the Utes, and Wisconsin over Half-Ass U. The Siena / OSU game was great. Morehead was right in it for a half vs Louisville, but it seems that several of the Cinderella's have looked good for the first 20 minutes this year.

Bracket Buster for me. I had WVU in the regional finals against Louisville.

Videotape - Radiohead The Dreaming Tree - DMB Chemtrails - Beck Brain Damage - Pink Floyd Cataracts - Andrew Bird

Well, at least he won the first round of the NIT last night against UNLV. Home court advantage, though. We played in our old gym / current practice gym which is literally just across the street from the team's dorm... But yeah, the pitchforks and torches await the inevitable tourny exit around this place lately...

We need a better name for this decade.

Joe Jackson - Night Music I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business (self titled) Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Steely Dan - pretty much any of them... Those often make my ipod list for long overnight flights. +1 for Useless Creatures.

About half. My wife is a less-than-rabid fan for most of the stuff I'm interested in, so I'm OK with going alone sometimes, especially if I can get a good seat down front. I went by myself to the JT show at the Vic last month, and actually that was a little uncomfortable being alone since it's kind of an "intimate" setting.

Live or Studio Album: Which do you like more?
theashtraysays replied to Clint09eastwood's topic in Just A Fan
Mixed bag for me as well, depending on the song. In general, I find myself listening more to live shows than studio. Via Chicago live is a near-religious experience, and the studio version doesn't come close. I prefer many of YHF tracks on the studio version than live. Etc, etc... -
MARCH MADNESS BEGINNETH ! Unfortunately, the Cats are bringing a 4 game losing streak into the SEC tournament, and I think we're pretty much gonna have to ace the thing to get to the dance... At least we can root for Morehead State. Hoo boy

does anyone think that the band considers any of their songs a "hit"?
-
Me too. I have heard a couple of the songs live, but I don't plan to do what I did with SBS which was to gather up all the live recordings of the new songs and listen a lot prior to the release or even the stream. I didn't enjoy SBS as much after that, and don't want to do that again.

Hey! There are a couple of us here in town, and I suspect a couple more lurkers... I'm planning on being out of town for pretty much all of the April tour, so Knoxville is unfortunately out. But I think they will swing back through and hit somewhere like Cinci or Lvl or even Indy... they always have.

OK, the last three Wilco shows I
-
As a matter of fact, I was. Good to hear that things are looking up. And the Wilco thing is a nice little addition as well. Hang in there. Vince

If We Only Have One Life to Live...
theashtraysays replied to Wilco Worshipper's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
no regrets. everything you are now, you are because of the choices you made and the things you've done. it's all part of who you are. second-guessing yourself is not healthy. let yourself just be who you are. it's OK to want to live better / be a better person, but that's all about what's in front of you, not behind you. -
Perhaps things in Des Moines, Iowa will slow down enough so that you can return soon. We'll be here.

The Most Important Band in America
theashtraysays replied to dondoboy's topic in Someone Else's Song
The most important band in America in this decade is actually the 3 or 4 judges who sit at the table in American Idol and determine what will be bombarded upon us through the airwaves in the coming years. Simon & Co have been at the wheel for popular music this decade. Nothin you can do about it, 'cept hopefully outlast it till it dies a natural death.
