the album is ok. i like about 6-7 songs out of the 12. not his best writing IMO. still digesting it, this is a grower album. -
Dylan - Bootleg Series, Volume 8
Smokestack Joe replied to you ever seen a ghost?'s topic in Someone Else's Song
i love the chapter in Chronicles about the No Mercy recordings. what a great book! loving the new Bootleg series. still taking it in but off the bat loved Most of the Time version and the Mississippi takes. and yes the live Cold Irons Bound is intense! -

No Depression and Harp Magazines
Smokestack Joe replied to CortezTheKiller's topic in Someone Else's Song
i miss Harp the most followed by ND. both great mags, great photography (Harp) and reviews (both). Paste does not replace those mags. the writing is terrible. i flip through it once and it goes to the recycle bin. -

i think Magick is his worst song ever. yeah its rocking but i find it contrived. -
im not a leftist but i like olberman and especially Dr. Maddow. they are entertaining. and i like to see the right wingers that appear on the show get angry at them

Solace - let me restate it differently. I liked the show, would go see him again and again. There was energy but M. Ward seems like a quite reserved guy so i am not expecting loud guitar jumping around, cursing into the mic or anything like that. the show seemed short to me because i thought he could have played more with the given time, show ended at or around ten pm. not into jam bands so wasnt expecting 2.5 hours of guitar interludes. i just read that he prefers studio to stage maybe i read too much into it. looking forward to the new album and projects!

if i DL this, am i gonna get caught and massacred like the other guy who DL Ryan Adams music? oops too late. -
first action debut? in what movie? yeah excited about M Ward music but i will have to say i saw him live and he was great but very short show about 70-75 minutes, he didnt seem too into it, ive read he'd rather just record music and be in studio instead of playing live. i guess i caught that vibe.

yes im happy the Bruins beat 'Lanche 5-4. The Aves bombarded Thomas with shots but the Bruins made their counts, woohoo!! the Face-Off edition on VS were terrible. Alanis Morrissette and Def Leppard? absolutely terrible! -

anyone want 1 ticket to the madison show sunday oct 5th? -
i love wilco but i would never buy a Cubs jersey with any member's name on it. sorry.
-
i just picked up Down The River today. excited. although it may have to wait after picking up Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
-
i had a great time. wilco was tight, they were having a good time despite skeeters. good to hear the new songs. loved hearing the old classiscs of AM and Being There. always brings me back to a time. the only thing that blew was the drive from WI, delays in Chicago, delays on I-65 and No Left Lane signs when the lane wasnt closed, it took me 6 hours when it should have taken 4. enjoyed the venue though. great spot.
-
looking forward to the show as i havent seen wilco since the Residency. new songs, Nudie suits, etc....gonna be a great time!

i just finished Desert Solitare after a few Edward Abbey sightings in books and bookstores and reading this post. i loved this book. I can see that it can be life-changing. i would love to retrace his steps in the Arches National Park, yes it has probably changed some but his writing moved me and made me feel invigorated. i agreed with a lot of things he said about preservation of wildlife and culture/civilization. His style to me is like a naturalist Bukowski, rough and tough, honest, and heartfelt. The book was a quick read and hard to put down. I loved the story about the Moon-Eyed Hor

no love for Brewers here..... that's ok.
