  1. I watched the 1st episode and this one is promising. I've recorded the 2nd one, hope to watch it tonight. Speaking of good comedies, anyone else here watch "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"? I think this might be the funniest show on American TV right now. Twisted and well written, and so many laugh out loud moments.
  2. I saw it and found it quite amusing. It has a pretty good cast, is well written and has some good characters too. Definitely one of the better new shows I've seen this year. The trying to be "hip" Dad was quite hilarious at times. Love the bit with his son and the basketball game at the end.
  3. ^^ I've heard good things about the new Kristofferson. Looking forward to hearing it. NP: Was: Now:
  4. The big problem with this kind of revelation is that the accused party is no longer around to defend themselves. It's too bad she waited until he was long dead to bring this up.
  5. In mono with headphones... and it sounds terrific. I've always thought this was one of the best records they ever released. I know many discount it as a contender because it's basically a collection of singles and an EP, but song for song it is very hard to beat.
  6. ^^ can't wait to get my hands on that one.
  7. That's 2 out of 3. The album was called "The Party's Over."
  8. I would've taken you up on this if it wasn't for the fact that my gf surprised me yesterday with tix for the 14th show.
  9. Agreed, she was a pretty original singer-songwriter.
  10. I burned it to CD using EAC and a .cue file I made so that all the tracks would have their own index. I can send you the .cue file. All you would need to do is convert the MP3 file to .WAV format then burn in EAC using the .cue file. Afterwords you can use the CD to put the tracks on an iPod or what have you. p.s. I do recall splitting the MP3 file into individual MP3s at one point. I'll have to check my external drive and see if I kept them.
  11. Helter Skelter is closer to hard rock, than heavy metal. A fine distinction, but if we're being pedantic about such things...
  12. Sounds interesting. I'm always game for anything Samson has to offer, he's such a great songwriter.
  13. Okay, you have my curiosity piqued. Carver is my favorite short story writer, and I'm a fan of Kerouac and Johnson's too. I'll be looking for this one for sure.
  14. Very true. The guy is a master at his craft.
  15. I sort of see the Stereo versions--especially the Rubber Soul and beyond era--as a good listen for people wanting a clearer picture of all the pieces that went into a Beatles recording. The overdubs and instruments used really standout better on these versions. Of course this is also the reason why the recordings seem jarring and fractured at times. The mono versions assemble all the pieces seamlessly, so as a listening experience these seem more cohesive. Both have their rewards, but it's probably the mono's that I'll return to more as a listener.
  16. I'm giving it another spin now. It didn't blow me away the first time through, but there was definitely some solid PW tunes on it. I guess after the great 49:00, this seems a bit average. Of course average PW is still better than most of the stuff coming out from other musicians.
  17. Wow, I would've guessed that you'd never been to highschool. I'm guessing your acquaintance with highschool was more as a visitor than an actual student .
  18. Paul Westerberg - PW & The Ghost Gloves Cat Wing Joy Boys
  19. What's the deal with grading songs? I mean, how can you rate a song like it's American Bandstand? I like it, I give them a 42, but I can't dance to it.
  20. I can think of a few bands with songs named after themselves, but an album title as well is pretty difficult. Here's the closest I get. Band - Song - Album: The Monkees - (Theme from) The Monkees - The Monkees Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac - The Original Fleetwood Mac Miss Black America - Miss Black America - God Bless Miss Black America
  21. I'd also add Funkadelic and Prince to the list. I'd also bet that Hendrix has impelled quite a few people to check out the artists that influenced him like Curtis Mayfield, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters...
  22. Karlheinz Stockhausen - Elektronische Musik 1952-1960
  23. I think Hendrix is one of the few musicians that might be impossible to overrate. The man created a new language with the guitar after all, and his ability to combine elements of Rock, R&B, Blues and Jazz and take them to another stratosphere was quite something.
  24. When Summerteeth first came out I thought the cover image was a loosely based homage to George Méliès "A Trip to the Moon."
